This is so bad. It's such a freaking joke, who writes this crap and thinks to themselves "Hell yeah this is good story-telling." It is so. *!@#ing. Bad.
I think she is talking about Arthas on the first dialogue. She is describing her getting freed from the Lich King's control and ambushing Arthas with a paralyzing arrow after that. She would have killed him but Kel'thuzad intervened in time and rescued Arthas.
Looking forward to the amusing fan art that will be coming from the cat-fight that everyone assumes is one micro-aggression away from happening between the Jaina and Sylvanas.

I swear to God... If Sylvanas gets redeemed after all she's done...
So sylvanas just had a similar problem as the orc race (playable btw) had before, aka being controlled by some evil power. One chose to drink that fel blood (they didn't know the whole story anyway) and the other got stabbed by the frostmourne. One was controlled immediately, the other took a while, so it was a slow process, as we could notice in war crimes.Anyway, it's nice to see some explanation to that bfa's retcon. It was high time.
so sick of Sylvanas, like go away
ugh danuser has to go fr
"Edit: an alternate interpretation of this dialogue could refer to Sylvanas firing an arrow at Arthas back in WC3. However, the final line of "I thought that if I could punish him for his crimes, I would be absolved of mine" has greater weight if referencing her recent actions done in partnership with the Jailer."The first part of this set of dialogue says that she doesn't exactly remember when she broke free from "his" control. If it was talking about Zovaal that wouldn't make any sense since it happened fairly recently (aka the end of SoD). Given this line of dialogue, it does seem like she is talking about Arthas more so than Zovaal. She even says that she does remember the feeling of being free though.
This is what people mean when they talk about how much datamining harms WoW. I'm losing count of how many times community rage has been born from spoilers posted out of context.Echoing what some others are saying though...it's way more likely she's referring to Arthas in WC3.
I am continually amazed at how they make everything worse with every new reveal. It's astounding. I think they've hit the bottom of the barrel, but they just keep digging further down.Sylvanas can't even own her evil actions anymore. Now it's Zovaal's domination magic even though it's played off like she's had free will the entire time and was just (mostly) devoted to this cause. We're at step 1 in the redemption arc, but seeing as how it is current Blizzard's writers writing it, it'll be less of an arc and more of a redemption... line.
