Here is some perspective: 2% of a company's stock controls nothing. It is a footnote. If a 2% stockholder were to "make a suggestion" regarding a company's policy, the management would smile, nod, and then politely ignore them. That's not how control works. 98% of ATVI is in the hands of other than UAR, so this is a portfolio diversification, nothing more.
i only understood word saudi-arabia oil prince has being a good day...
It means an investment fund owns 2% of ActiBlizzard. Its not good or bad. The amount of shares they have give them a voice at investor meetings, but thats about iit.
For context, tencent owns 2.5 times this.
now it's time for Bob to get even richer with Saudi Arabia. As for Acti-blizz, if it is true this is not good or bad in this, but if it is safe in the economy and in the price of Public Investment Fund, there will always be the dark side of excessive monopolization.
HAhaha that is a smart investment... tomorrow is Blizzcon and we know they will anounce great things. That will increase their market value, that means that anyone that invested in them will win a lot of money...
You can think of this as 2 things. 1 is that the fund see potential growth in these stocks and thus buys them for some nice profit down the road. Or 2, stocks is a part of the company, then one who holds the most stocks will have a bigger say in what to do or no to depending on the situation. Some investors are highly involved in the company since they own big chunks of it, and some are happy with management and dont say anything. In this case it looks like they want to have some good profit down the road.
Activision has no control over who buys their stock.
It means get ready for World of Warcraft: Arabian Nights!
A few points:1. The significance of this news to many Wowhead readers is as significant as the stockholding concerned at Activision-Blizzard levels.2. Those citing 'human rights' issues probably have little to no idea how Islam works to be making ANY 'human rights' statements in the first place; you're treading on very thin ice of a world you probably shouldn't be commenting on, never mind on a video game user site.3. As 2. above, but pertaining to Stock Market trading - as others have already said before me.
