I would love to join, but I don't know if I will be available at 6 pm tonight. I'll create a troll just in case. If I'm not there have fun everyone!
I'll be there. 9.1 prep is wrapped up and I'll proudly walk (err...run) as an ally with yall. Ally of freedom and the right to live and play as you are, to be clear. Not "Ally" as in Alliance. I mean...sheeeeesh. :)
Good lord I'm glad I checked Wowhead -- I've been wondering and googling for weeks trying to figure out when this year's run was gonna be.
My Troll is ready to go! :>
What is this for anyway?
Events like this are really important! I can’t help but notice though, that wowhead makes a HUGE push during pride month but doesn’t do anything to celebrate the plight of other large historically oppressed minority groups. Wowhead, Blizzard, and the community at large fails to dedicate time and energy to recognize and support those of African descent, indigenous people, women’s history, etc. I’m afraid to say that until these groups are given the same amount of attention as the LGBTQIA+ community does - by way of commemorative pins, projects, and posts - I can’t help but think the focus on pride month is nothing more than rainbow capitalism and a superficial attempt to score social points without actually working to overcome the systemic injustices pervasive in our society.
Honestly, many trolling ppl are acutally respecting the lmbtq members, its just this month is all about them and its too much. Like when Despacito became a hit, you liked it yet in the end you got an urge to puke whenever you heard that song because it became overused and you didnt like it anymore. Same effect. And its kinda sad that everybody promoting this month as the rainbow month and they remove the attention from everybody else who needs help. For one, i donte to an organization which helps the deaf kids (i am deaf to my left ear too, but thank god the right one is all good. i just cant figure out which direction the sound cames from and have to stand to the left side of my friends to understand them clearly and i cant work in many places since i cant pass the medical examinations) because i am personally attached to them. . So my point is, the deaf, the blind, those who fight cancer, the starving, the poor, the oprhan and many others doesnt get as much attention in a year than the lmbtq party. I understand they might need help too, but promoting only them everywhere is a little overkill...
I never understood what purpose does bringing real life problems into a virtual fantasy world serve, besides sparking an unnecessary discussion of course, we are all gamers I do not differentiate between old or young, man or woman, black or white, I differentiate between monk or druid, troll or tauren, tank or healer, raising awareness over minority struggles is a noble cause, just the venue you're using here is ill equipped to get your message out there, because the number of recipients is small in comparison to traditional social media.
