This post was click bait - It should not read "Renown cap increases by 2 a week" - by that title I thought it was going up to 4 renown a week - the title should be "Renown Cap now 2 a week"
The water is wet!Weekly lockouts reset on Tuesday!Your character now dies if its hp reaches zero!Stay tuned for more exciting news folks!
The people who call this "timegating" are the same people who would cry about this system being grindy as fu*k if it wasnt time gated. Weekly gated content is GOOD.People cant controll themselves, they would either feel overstrained or they would do it and burn out or then say "omg dead patch no content left" after rushing through it in 1 week.
All the really powerful renown points have already been hit, unlocking the new powers from the soulbinds is the hands down biggest power boost. Getting an extra +2 levels to your conduits is an incredibly small increase. Collectively it can make a difference but it's intended as a drip feed to make things gradually easier for folks struggling on progression, that's it. High end raiders and casual players won't need it and will barely notice it. So, you really really don't need to stress that you're missing out on the extra .03% power for another week.
I am extremely apt to crap on blizzard (look at my posts). But the renown schedule is not timegating.Timegating is:-not doing torghast and then being behind on soul ash, that you couldn't spam to the amount people had if they kept pace-having to do 4+ clears of HFC because you didn't loot your 33 tomes of chaos in 3 resets-not getting shadowfrost shards and seething cinders in the shortest lockouts possible and then having to encounter/play against others who were able to complete it quicker because of luck-starting your 8.3 cloak later on and then not getting to rank 15 to then work on getting malefic cores, because we could only loot 2 a week (normal or higher nzoth and full clear vision). There was a halfway point, starting on June 16th, that if blizzard had not put in malefic cores on the vendor, that by the time we got to September 15th, you would not have 125 corruption resistance like everyone else (not to mention the entire time before then you would be behind everyone else by alot in corruption resistance just numerically).Renown schedule places everyone on a track to where no one can get ahead. And it would only be a timegate if blizzard did not at all allow for renown sources in content besides the ones that it was already on, aka campaign/1000 anima/souls and now DA weekly quest (if you kept pace 100% of the time).Renown schedule and the 8.3 cloak initial progression to rank 15 are no different from the ICC buff.Call this a defense of blizzard all you want but everyone complaining just whines about not being able to binge at the degree they want. But they are wrong, nor can they elaborate what other things in the game functioned as timegates besides using the "feels" approach. Not being able to binge is an issue (like 40 hours a week on the weekend will not get you the same level of progression as 40 hours a week but spaced out over all days of the week) but for other reasons, aka daily resets, which is why weekly quests are superior.
Sooooo.... the "catchup" part of Korthia where you can upgrade gear to 233 ilv ( Normal KT/Sylvanas loot level) is only going to be available in the first week of october.....So you can only upgrade your alts gear to 229 ilv in korthia until then. Why? What's the point of this timegate? By the time that upgrade option becomes available, people will already be running heroic Sanctum on alts, making it completely pointless ........ It's not the sexual harassment lawsuits or the delay in patches that's killing this game slowly. It's the totally pointless and unwanted dripfeed of content and player power that goes against everything old wow stood for that's killing the game. First step towards saving the game would be to fire your Rewards and Itemization design teams and hire fresh eyes in those roles. God know you've been doing an awful job at it since Legion and it has only been getting worse, meaning the dev team responsible for it is incapable of learning from mistakes, which should be a basic skill you should have, lack of which should be cause for firing.
