In the latest Dragonflight Alpha build, Primalist Invasions are available to be tested. Defeat Primalist NPCs and gather currency to purchase cool-looking level 70 gear!
Primalist Invasions
Primalist Invasions are a new type of event that happens in Dragonflight. Every 6 hours, two Dragon Isles zones will receive a Primalist force invasion in certain areas. The locations are marked with an X on your Dragon Isles map. Invasions last for 2 hours, and the 6-hour timer starts once the current invasion ends.
There are four types of Invasions that can happen:
Air, Earth, Fire, and Water
Primalist invasions. Each invasion fills the area with Primalist NPCs, as well as imbuing already existing NPCs in the area with abilities of the invading element. The invaded area also changes to more closely match the attacking element.
The Obsidian Throne in Waking Shores during an Air Primalist Invasion.
There are no objectives on that invasion - The objective there is to grind NPCs to collect currency to purchase starter gear! You're able to purchase two tiers of gear with Primalist Invasions, one on a currency that can be grinded whenever an invasion is up, and a rarer currency available on a weekly basis.
Elemental Overflow Gear
The first set of gear comes from
Elemental Overflow
, a currency obtained from grinding Primalist Invasion mobs. There is no limit to how much Elemental Overflow you can farm from invasions, besides the time limit on the invasions themselves.
Currently on the Dragonflight Alpha, this gear is sold at ilvl 382.

Shoulders, Boots and Gloves

.

Storm Sigil Gear
The second set of gear comes from
Storm Sigil
, a rare currency obtained from Primalist Invasion mobs. This currency is far more limited, as you can only obtain them once per invasion per week - The currency is a reward from a quest item that drops once per invasion per week. As there are 4 different types of invasions, you can obtain
4 Storm Sigils
per week:
Air Primalist Invasions -
Dissipating the Air Primalists
Earth Primalist Invasions -
Shattering the Earth Primalists
Fire Primalist Invasions -
Extinguishing the Fire Primalists
Water Primalist Invasions -
Vaporizing the Water Primalists
Currently on the Dragonflight Alpha, this gear is sold at ilvl 395. This is noticeable, as this is just 3 ilvls below the currently known ilvl for the Normal version of the Vault of the Incarnates raid.

Well the sets are looking quite good. But one thing i really wonder. Each invasion has a 6 hour wait time + 2 hour duration. So that means we will have exactly 3 invasions each day.
For example if the timer starts at 00:00, it means first invasion will be from 06:00 to 08:00, second will be from 14:00 to 16:00 and third and last one will be from 22:00 to 24:00. And it starts again.
In depending from when the timer actually starts, it means the invasions will always be at the same time. This also means if you cannot play at these hours for example because of work or family obligations, you will never see those invasions.
Lets hope Blizzard recognizes this.
I recall from my family/work commitment days this would have been a hard schedule. World content players may be lucky to have an hour a day to play, or perhaps half an hour in the morning and a bit longer in the evening after the children are in bed.
Perhaps it would be better to have an invasion run all day, but a ticking debuff so you can only "survive" for 2 hours then must "rest"? (This presumes the invasion zone doesn't contain any needed quests, NPCs, resources etc. as The Maw did).
Perhaps a "fiery miasma" for the fire elemental invasion, "icy wind" for the air invasion, "quaking earth" for earth and "liquid gel" for the water? At 95% it impacts you a little, growing over the last 5 percent over the last 5 minutes as a warning to get out - like the Maw, but less impactful until the last few minutes?
Or perhaps it allows you 1 hour, then must rest for 12, with a potion available from vendors to survive for 2 hours for those who want/can do longer at one sitting?

eh blizz when will you understand outdoor event must, be meaningful past normal raid diff.. esp as you force end-game anyway :(
If you don't raid or m+ like me why do you need mythic world content gear? You don't. Normal level gear (3ilvl lower than vault normal so pretty much the same to me) is going to be plenty to get through the patch and you'll have tons of time to gear up to thst too with sigil gear at 4 sigils a week. Normal gear level should be the max besides one off legendaries or crafted gear because I puts you in a good spot to try for normal raids and will help you get into M+.
Such a limited mindset. the game could have actual meaningful progression outside of raid with proper item level. Once people get raid item level the open world just becomes stale and faceroll. one of the reasons it's so easy to bot farm.
Timeless Isle did this right. Most areas you could do, but the harder areas were up the slope, then across the broken bridge using the legendary cloak. The middle area you progressed with raid gear or the drops from that zone. The last zone had a mini-raid boss with a once-a-week chance at gear.
