Something for unholy in pvp this year or... ?
everyone complaining about BM here while Surv is dying in the gutter
Wait, they changed the DH Necrolord ability? I thought you summon a demon to fight. This sounds like it was massively improved. I actually liked the old one, clunkiness and all, but this is a really nice change.
First Time?
Alright, I don't usually bother to comment, no matter how heated the debate is, but I think I have to make an exception this time. The amount of ignorance, mixed with condescending arrogance from the people who obviously have little to no experience with the game is just revolting and demands a rebuke.First of all, BM hunters indeed ARE in a below average spot as a spec right now, and just to enlighten the crowd who's eager to spew out opinions just to make themselves feel superior, I'll break it down for you:BM / MM / Survival Raiding (HC/Mythic):- No, Survival hunter does not deserve more love than BM. BM is pretty much one of the most lore-abiding specs, which should be a staple for Hunters. Survival is a niche class, nobody who starts an mmorpg and picks a Hunter class is doing it to play melee dps. Honestly, they don't. Survival hunter needs a major rework to ever be worthy of PvE. PvP is a whole different beast though (more on it below).- No, MM hunter is not doing worse when mobility is required thus being inferior to BM. This is a big misconception, mostly strengthened by people who are unable to time their cooldowns and rotations to match themechanics of the encounter. In reality, the couple of sidesteps you need to take in fights you fill with steady shots and use the "free cast" time to pump your aimed shots. Rapid fire is castable on the move and Aimed shots with proper haste/talents are actually quite fast, compared to some classes that literally have to hardcast 3 second spells.- No, BM hunter does not have the "easiest rotation" and "easiest class" to play bonus. The pets are gimmicky and annoying. The AI pathing is often a huge dps loss if not constant nuisance. At this state of the game, pretty much every dps spec has a VERY EASY rotation. Anyone who argues otherwise is literally just bad at the game. Except for ferals, their perfect rotation actually requires you to match a pretty decent skill ceiling.- No, BM hunter does not gain value from "more sustained uptime" compared to better performing specs. IF they would, why are boomkins/aff locks so far ahead? Wet noodle uptime can't match the burstiness and overall dps of MM. Go see what good your "good uptime" does on a Mythic Sludgefist fight where you need to time your burst. Burst - something which basically does not even exist for a BM. And YES, Mr. Pet Peeve from the comments above: 10% damage on a target dummy actually does directly convert to damage in real content scenario too! This is another misconception by people who probably never make it past HC dungeons and LFR.- No, the legendary buffs are not BM buffs. It's reshuffling the broken system. Having to RELAY on legendaries to make or break your whole spec is BAD DESIGN. Legendaries should offer more dynamic builds, instead you are often forced to play 1 specific legendary to be actually competitive with the content you are doing. This is true for a LOT of specs, also for BM. So yeah, no, re-shuffling legendaries to be somewhat on bar (flare trap leggo will still outperform many of these buffs) with a gimmicky leggo that is a must have to outdps tanks is not class balancing, it's an insult to logic.- Yes, I play every Hunter spec and have enough time (12 hours a day give or take) to fiddle around and test things that work or may not work. I also play pretty much every other class and role in the game. High end mythic raiding, high end pvp - you name it. And while I don't play BM all that often if not just for fun (it REALLY is not a viable spec in ANY content), I have tested it out extensively even at Mythic raids. And warcraftlogs are CLEAR evidence of why and how BM is lacking, if you don't care for what I wrote above, don't ignore the facts and statistics at least.PvP:- BM Hunter has VERY bad time in battlegrounds, RBGs / Normal BGs and ESPECIALLY Epic Battlegrounds. The pets die to random chillstreaks, convokes and whatever fluff hits them ALL THE TIME. And no, spamming pet heal on cooldown is not going to make it survive any longer. Often it's snared to oblivion and unable to even command it back from the inferno that's being unleashed in it's vicinity. And the snare break does have a hefty cooldown also, which is more than enough to have yourself another dead pet with interruptable, insanely long revive. There is basically zero reason to play BM in BGs over MM. Even survival is more useful in RBGs than BM hunter.- BM Hunter is decent, but just barely in arenas. Mainly because the Craven legendary is just hardcarrying you vs rot comps and you can harass rogues and mages to infinity and back. Good luck facing Venthyr warrior (The most popular of the apes in todays meta) or Frost DK. There is no legendary that's going to save you there. Whoever thought that having Disengage matched with the cooldown on Charge really despises kiters, hehe. Not to mention that even if you manage to Disengage, get charged, knockback trap (which is a pvp talent that takes up a slot of something else that you could really use instead), snare and try to build distance, you will get just get stormbolted on cooldown and then you'll have the monkey on your back again. And no, you can't just "outdps" and kill the warrior by trapping the healer on cooldown. You have ZERO defensives besides turtle and Feign Death which can often be gimmicky. The only way for a BM hunter to beat a Frost DK and Venthyr Warrior is if there's an immense skill cap. For anything close to equal (at duelist+ cr) there's basically no chance, often enough, not even being Jellybeans is going to cut it. Also not to mention that yeah, your pets just go splat and anyone good at the game just won't let you revive it for ages, rendering you useless.- Survival hunter is vastly superior in basically every aspect that matters in arenas. Survival has actually found it's niche in high rated arenas and is currently one of the absolute gems when paired with correct comp. And no, I don't care about "but nuuuu, warrior does more dpsss how is survival betterrrr?" mindset that you got from your 1400 exp.- MM in arenas bring burst that BM does not have, making it possible to actually capitalize on the traps and setups. And that's all folks. I dare you to roll a BM hunter, gear it to 220+ ilevel, do every content in the game and still come here and say "but hey BM is actually good, it's getting even more buffed, it's better than MM, it's still better than Survival, it has nice uptime". Until then, please keep your opinions to where they belong...
Partly bc its useless in pvp.
