This really defeats the purpose of e-sports. This also depicts it of being all bad and about war. This rubs me the wrong way.
Definitely a very um... not great commercial ad... especially when directly target the 'gamer' demographic.. xD
made by people who have never gamed in their life
Its a %^&*ing sugar drink. Get over yourselves.
Can't unsee it now ;(
Uhmm ... well .... I can't even pretend that there might be someone out there liking ... WHATEVER this is. That "Orc" also looks way too much like a human wearing green paint. Maybe this really is an advertisement for LARP events?
Nor sure how cringe copycat videos will promote drinking that trash to me, but of course I don't know better than the marketing department of Coca-Cola.
Thanks for the laughs, what a utterly stupid commercial!
If those kinds of actions were actually available in MMOs, I would be 100% glad that my father taught me how to play pinochle and that I still have a deck in the house. The sad thing is that I used to love Coke. Until about 3 minutes ago.
The message was nice (aside from a soda causing the "relevation"), the execution was rather silly, as it really only could be from a soda commercial.
Maybe it's because me and everyone else is becoming cynical, but I'm left wondering if this is how big companies sees us... not just as gamers or customers, but as people in general.
I think it was poorly received because...I will admit it was pretty cringy, on top of that it gives off the vibe that esports is a positive place, it's only positive when you win. If they wanted to advertise using gaming I do think they could have done a different theme rather than esports especially since the esports world was basically put on hold. The CGI is nice though so that's a positive, wouldn't have used Orcs vs Humans because ya know....blizzard right now but I understand it considering how this must've been worked on for months or at least a year and it would have been a waste to just scrap it.To add on to the mess of it all, They advertised to the wrong people imho, people know that drinking coke for esports(or any sport tbh) really isn't that good compared to other energy drinks/water. My opinion is that Pepsi is better too.
WATER ONLY! TAKE COKE AWAY!
Cross-faction confirmed! :D
Nothing being done by characters in a video game is literally being done. Any bridges being built are virtual. The players are literally sitting on their chairs pushing buttons, and not building bridges.
Didn't Pepsi do an ad about how only Pepsi could stop race riots or something ? I remember it being poorly received.
This ad has supplied me with a dose of cringe for a few months in advance.
Was this a Don Draper idea: "I'd like to buy the World of Warcraft a Coke"?
