lol finally after like 8 months I can update my drivers.
OMG! they finally fix it <3
Thank the heavens! Tried Windows 11 and considered migrating to Linux gaming. Both my old 1060 and 3060 had the SL flickering issue, was starting to feel buyer regret over it.
Switching back down to DirectX11 also 'fixed' it.
I read on the US forums that instead of having WoW automatically selecting your GPU, selecting the one you want, even if you have only 1, works... And somehow it did. Spires was unplayable for me after updating my drivers and this instantly fixed it for me somehow...
Does this fix the same issue happening in TBC Classic?
In Classic too?
ABOUT TIME FFS WHOLLY F*CK/end rantFinally! :)
Took them long enough, jeez. The flickering was such an annoying thing. It was minor, but it just wouldn't stop. Glad this obnoxious problem was finally fixed.
Just like Blizzard. Taking forever to get a patch out.
Using DX11 was a significant performance hit on RTX cards. Lots of misinformation and hocus pocus fixes about this. The only "real" fix before Nvidia patched the driver, which I've used for around 6 months now was to add Setting ID_0x006d6197 = 0xa2b53761 to the driver profile, which disables a specific DX 12 optimization that isn't relevant to WoW (It was for Resident Evil) . A custom .nip profile exists and can be downloaded and imported with Nvidia profile inspector rather than changing settings manually.
I've been on 457.51 forever as they were the last ones which worked for me, fixed in 471.11, thankfully they were all over this and got it fixed right away. Try unknowingly upgrading 20 minutes before raid and this flickering bs happens.
Thank god! This has been plaguing me since Cyberpunk came out. Super happy about this fix.
I had this issue in 8.3 and wrathion's Fire circles on the floor were giant flickering squares
Was wondering what it was :D
OMG YES! FINALLY!
So being on driver version 417.71 for years saved me from this bug. But I remember similar behaviour in WoD where ALL new available drivers for my brand new GTX 960 had the bug of blackscreens with driver timeouts. It took them months to release a driver back then and the first driver that fixed this issue introduced flickering herbs and bushes all around. So I had the choice between blackscreens and eye cancer. The first driver that fixed both issues had serious performance issues in other games. And a damn YEAR after release of the GTX 960 a driver was released that fixed it all. I was so damn tired of trying everything, I decided to not update again until I'm running into an issue or incompatibility. And I think it was a good decision until today.
Whew I thought my 1060 was finally dying and I was going to have to bow to the scalper $%^&*!@s.
Luckily i never had that issue.
