can test it on ptr now. enable dx12, then play with the MT cvars. set all to one except for the disable. but once you enable the 4 MT renderers, you can use disable to toggle diff between non MT and MT. especially check it out on boralus. :D pic.twitter.com/CxvR1raf21— 🧔🏽Adam (@MysticalOS) October 6, 2018

... why is there a Horde airship above Boralus? Maybe a spoiler tag would have been useful.
What was the approximate player population running around on PTR during the test?. You can get avg 70+ FPS in Boralus without problems on live servers late at night with a 7700k + 1070 and those settings.
Will this also increase Mac performance?
While I don't expect it to happen, would be nice if these optimizations could be made for DX11 as well... but Microsoft wouldn't want "outdated" software supported, as it discourages people from buying their new product (and I specify Microsoft in this, and not Blizzard, cause it would be Microsoft providing any internal support work for it to Blizzard's devs, since DirectX is their software). It was only the standard from Windows 7 (as of 2010) forward until DX12 became a thing for Windows 10... Just a mere 8+ years worth of users out there who didn't upgrade to Windows 10 when it was only just freshly coming out of Beta and didn't want to get burned by the product after the train-wreck that was Win8.
Interesting, hopefully that will help with FPS lag, especially in Legion Dalaran, Boralus, raids and world boss fights. You'd be surprised how much the WoW client hates rendering all the players on the screen, very laggy.
Great news. I can finally get 60 FPS sustain on my old old PC :D with a newish GPU.
This is great news!Optimization is always a welcome addition.
With a 3930k and my 1080ti ftw and the win10 optimizations i sit right around 65 to 80 fps in Boralus. There are some serious issues with scaling windowed in win10 that kill fps on pascal.
I'm using something similar , i5-3470 , 8gb RAM, 1030 2gb , Win 10 Pro with settings at 5 on FHD, Boralus has 30-40 fps, the rest of the content is 65+
And of course this is only for dx12... I bet next expansion they'll remove dx11 from the game so some of us can't even play it anymore. They did it with 32-bit and dx9 already. And fullscreen. Blizzard used to make their games playable on all kinds of computers, cheap or expensive, old or new. (Yes, there are some who are too poor to get a new computer) And WoW used to run smooth, then 7.3 came with the new hard fps cap, without an option, causing unfixable stuttering. I'd love to see performance fixes for all systems. Not just the most expensive.
Like Thychus would say "It's about time !"
I dont understand what are you talking about... My graphics card died couple weeks ago and i am currently playing on intergrated HD4000 and gen3 CPU. Game does look like *!@# but i still run with 30+ FPS. So yes, Blizzard still does support #$%^ty computers
