what if i join a guild that abuses ML? think about how bad my anxiety would get having to tell them I'm leaving the guild!no, a way better option is removing the entire system for everyone so i don't have to have an awkward conversation with the raid leader.
People actually want their rat characters to have to craft a legendary in every slot just to trade gear? The stuff about tier was already announced a long time ago.
The only times I saw loot get stolen with Masterloot was in pugs. And even then it was really rare. What I saw way more often was "Item XYZ is locked." So you know from the very beginning what is going to happen. And if you want to talk about trials not getting loot: How fricking long do people accept being on trial? At most that would be two IDs. If the trial isn't over by then, they just want to abuse you like big companies abuse unpaid interns.Even now, what keeps guilds from pressuring you into giving items away? What would be the difference between the Raid Lead giving an item to his buddy, and the Raid Lead saying "You either trade this item or you are out"? In both cases you should just get away from that toxic guild.
I'm okay with it, but at same time miss master loot
The tier set piece I get but seriously the legendary one? What's with the bad designs you guys are doing so good quit shooting yourself in the foot
Oh well. That’s what people get for abusing the system. Go play another game if you don’t like it.
They should just give us back guild master looter, that would solve so many problems and remove the need for them to come up with convoluted solutions like this one
Finally! Thank God, we really needed this change! Now I will be able to farm out gear slots and not have to worry about contributing to my group!
The amount of people in support of this makes me sad. The Dev Team trying to make coordinating loot among group members pointlessly more difficult. These were rules added in 9.2 for the express purpose of making the already existing rules even harder to deal with for groups. Let that sink in. The only reason a degenerate strat like crafting Legendaries of a high ilvl in order to trade lower ilvl loot in those slots would even be considered is because people want to freely trade loot. Working within the existing rules, this is what players considered. The Devs then went beyond that, to make sure trading loot is darn near impossible. Now even if you have a higher ilvl piece, that's not enough. It can't be a legendary (who's replacing their BiS legendary with a regular piece?) and in the case of tier it has to be an equal or higher ilvl for that exact item. Having a Legendary, Mythic SoD, or M+ helm isn't going to let you trade a Normal tier helm. It just doesn't make any sense, in terms of the average player, to not be able to trade a Helm drop of a lower ilvl if they are already wearing a Legendary Helm. It's useless loot for most in that scenario. But for the sole purpose of making it harder to coordinate drops among group members they've made these changes. They should just not have implemented any trade restrictions on PL. Really just not doing stuff like this would make the game more fun for many and I'm really baffled by the support here on Wowhead these additional restrictions on trade seemingly get. It only impacts people who want to trade loot. If you don't want to trade loot, simply don't trade? I have a hard time understanding why this strict and restrictive policy built into the game is necessary in order to not trade away the loot that ended up being put directly in your own bags?
Just use the old fashioned loot system and be done with it
Yeah a lot of people commenting here seem to be really downplaying the social pressure that fewer gear trading restrictions allow for. On the one hand, there're those who want to be able to trade stuff around that they feel like they don't need. On the other, there're those who might not want to trade their loot drops but are going to be 'expected' to do so or risk losing opportunities to raid. Given how things have changed regarding loot over the years, it's pretty clear which side Blizzard is favoring and there're probably reasons for that. Feel free to speculate/argue over what those reasons are.
