I've met thousands of people in this game, but two of those really make my day every day, if I'm not playing with them during the evening, I'm kind of bored for the whole evening. Chatting, doing dungeons, pvp'ing, having a laugh, nothing is more fun when partying up with these guys, I'd love to meet up with them someday... And let me have a taste on how they live outside of WoW.
A few years ago under horrible conditions, I started playing WoW with a person not really thinking too much of it. A few days later, I came out with a variety of friends that I would have never thought possible and all it took was a "Would you like to sign my guild charter?". Yes, it sounds extremely cliche and to this day, I still laugh about it. But I still can't believe that I was able to make such amazing friends through a guild. An entire family full of loving, kind, helpful people. People who cared. People who I was even able to meet in person with and have great memories. And this was only the start! I can't wait to meet all of my friends and be able to share the same experience and fun. :)
I got promoted to be the raid leader of my guild because the previous one had left. The raid group I inherited was so bad that I was having trouble getting through raids. I ended up inviting a player I had done some PUGs with before and we then proceeded to make fun of all the bad players in Vent binds. I've been actively talking to him for almost 5 years now and we've met up outside of WoW a couple times.
I have met some of my guildmates in person at Blizzcon. We were meeting at the airport, and some of us had found each other and were waiting for the last person to show up. Then we realized that we didn't know his real name or what he looked like... so we made a sign with his character name on it. Good times :P
I had a buddy one time back in Vanilla who met a girl online and then they actually got married, I think they are still married actually.
I have met a lot of people, but i could never have the oportunity to to know this well and spand so much time with someone from sweden for example. Although we have never met in real life we have spend years venturing and battling through azeroth together!
My wife and I have made several friends in our questing of azeroth. One couple is from Canada. Our dream is to one day go and visit them. We have been friends for about 5 years. We have enjoyed our time together greatly and its wonderful that a game like this can bring so many people together.
My best friendship was when I first started just after release. I was incredibly lost and had no idea what to do. A random dude helped me out and even gave me some gold! It was a friendship that lasted many expansions. Sadly he has quit playing WoW, but maybe he will be back for WoD...
Oh my, where to begin...First when I started playing World of Warcraft I joined in during the beta for vanilla, during this time I knew nobody. None of my friends in real life played (not sure if I had any people that were truly friends then anyway). I was completely on my own. Around when I got to level 10 on my warrior I switched over to a rogue, planning to play every class to 10 before choosing. I instantly fell in love with the rogue for 2 reasons. 1: The rogue in vanilla was AMAZING. 2: I met a guy named Aramyn, who forever changed my outlook on life. He took me into a guild that, when I joined, everyone greeted me! How startling! I made several friends during this time who lasted through all of vanilla, and one who is still a friend even if we don't talk too much. Tensaga, Evilcandy, Kilikina, Glitterfrost, Aramyn. We partied and I found out what true friendships of pure personality was. But all this isn't even why I am posting,To get to the bread and butter;I attempted, along with a few others, to get my guild in the paragraph above to move to Blackdragon Flight. I was only able to get a few, but the rest stayed. Sadly I carried on with Serenity or Dark Serenity or whatever something close to that name. We were all amazing, but where this really starts is with a girl named Katelyn. Now I live in the south, most importantly, the "technicology challenged" part of the south. Whilist having to change schools, I came upon a girl who was a lot like me. Shy, self-kept, very smart, etc.. She was drawing randomly in class, when I noticed that her drawing was of a popular anime (Naruto, anyone?). I called her out on it, and she freaked out. Going on to say how she can't find anyone else ANYWHERE where we live that is interested in such things. We start hanging out for a bit when I noticed her dirty secret, she played WoW. Furthermore, she was actually someone I had played with before! Though none of the names listed above, she was/is Faithe. We've been dating ever since, so middle-endish TBC till now, we're about to be on our 8 year anniversary ;D!Also during WOTLK we met several people who we still are in contact with. We call eachother up, send text messages, freak out over patches and changes. One of them was another surprise! Another person who I had been playing with actually went to the same exact school I was going to! The next day we were there we met up and talked about it, brought Kat over and we all became best of friends. Now were on the level of an amazing bros and enjoy each others company extensively. From the start of and during Cataclysm I found some of the friends that I carry over till today. If they read this (lol); Cez, Knuckls, Oniz, Aurin, Defiant, Blizz, and last but not least, Nith! Now interestingly enough I did actually get to meet Nith. He saw the people going to a popular convention about 4-5 hours from where I am called Dragoncon, which is held in Atlanta. He bought TRAIN tickets to come out and we all partied and enjoyed ourselves. Blizz I'm pretty sure I'm going to meet at Blizzcon this year or the next. Aurin lives also about 5 hours away and we're planning to meet up. And best part, I met Cez THROUGH WEARING A HORDE HOODIE! One of my classes during college I wore it to carry my 3DS. He approached me and now we're b-b-b-b-BROOOOOing it out. We still play with Cez, Aurin, Defiant, Blizz, Nith (occasionally), and Khalissla (the one from WOTLK).So now that's where I am, constantly making new acquaintances, turning them (to my best ability) into friendships. Meeting up with them if possible, and having an absolute blast.Summary (or TL;DR)During vanilla I made friendships which changed my life from introvert to slightly less introvert. This caused my TBC days to acknowledge another like-soul as mine and become friends and now engaged to another slightly less introvert person. During WOTLK we found out that someone from class played WoW with us through in-game, this person and I are now super bros. Other friends made during this time have my number and facebook, we chat frequently. During Cata, friendships soared; while WOTLK was only about 3 people, Cata was about 9-12 friends who I can say truly have my back. Names being; Cez, Knuckls, Oniz, Aurin, Defiant, Blizz, and Nith. I met Nith at Dragoncon in Atlanta. Aurin lives 4-5 hours away. Blizz we'll be meeting at Blizzcon this or next year. Found out Cez actually goes to my college by wearing a Horde hoodie one day at college. All of us talk frequently, all of us are bros, all of us probably will be for life.
Always loved meet ups since my icq days these things are fun. but a while back a friend of mine was living next door. He had our guild leader move out here we have all moved on and are even on differnet servers but shes a great friend to this day and will be a prt of my wedding even . I hop more people meet more great folks its always great time
Heya,I met one of the nicest persons out there during WoW;Wotlk, I got to know the guy and even found out he was in my same town! We played alot together and actually had such a good bond and so much in common that both of us loved the same dungeons, raids and even type of shampoo! (Nexxus ftw!). It was crazy! He and I have been best friends since we met each other online on the 19th or 20th of February 2010 (I think >.<) through one of our other friends. I met him IRL about a month later when me and a couple of my own close friends went out for drinks and he tagged along, he clicked with nearly all of us and he's now in our close social circle of bro's. We've played through the expansions together and we've just come closer as bro's throughout the years.-Bowtie@Galakrond
Back when WoW was still in closed beta I got in, I also got in for Guild Wars which I really enjoyed playing and I said oh I'll never pay monthly for a game and I laughed.. but then I played my WoW closed beta and I was hooked and my best friend had gotten an invite to the WoW beta as well. So the day it officially launched I picked up these and they were the only two copies of WoW CE that they had. The plan was to use one and sell the other, well it turned out that my buddy couldn't afford to buy WoW and pay for a subscription (His mother was disabled and they were on government income and he was in college with grants paying his way).Well I really didn't want to play the game alone, so I posted both copies on ebay, went out and bought two original copies of WoW and set him up with a six month subscription with the money I got from selling the CE's so we could play together. Unfortunately I didn't think we would both keep playing and while we both enjoyed it he couldn't continue to pay for it and I couldn't keep paying for him so he had to stop after the seven months were up. Our lives have gone different paths and I've completely lost touch with him, he refused to do social networking and the limited time between work and our families just didn't give us time to stay in touch.I think back to it sometimes and I wish I had kept one copy but time I got to hang out with him in game while our lives were going separate paths was worth missing out on the original CE, I don't have a single regret on selling them so we could play together.
I've made a few friends on WOW! I have two new friends right now and it's great to go do stuff with them. I stay at home with my kids so the adult interaction is a + haha! I also play with my husband, but we didn't meet on WOW, he brought WOW to me :P
In August 2006, on the Alliance side of Illidan I had just hit level 60 on my Warrior (my first 60 and my current main). I was looking for a group to farm some of the level 60 dungeons as I was still in mainly greens and a few blues (remember those days?). I was a tank (as were all good warriors back in the day) and had found all 3 DPS and just needed a healer. After spamming in trade chat - there was no dungeon finder - for about 10 minutes a healer FINALLY sent me a message. She was a Holy Priest and had just hit 60 recently as well. To try and make things easier for us, we decided to join up in vent so we could go over pulls and general strategy. Long story short, we ended up wiping like 4 different times and a DPS bailed. Then the healer alt-f4'd. Figuring the group was over, I was about to leave when one of my RL buddies who had some gear at the time offered to come help. So I kept the group intact and we started clearing more of the dungeon. About an hour in to the dungeon, the healer Priest logged back on. To her dismay, she was still in the group. But now that we weren't wiping, she stuck around. We cleared the dungeon, got some new loot, and parted ways.Forward a month and I've finally got some decent gear and I apply to join my first raiding guild. I get accepted in to a guild called <Argent Dawn> as one of their backup tanks. They had just started clearing BWL and were in need of additional tanks, so I got in to some of their off-night MC clears and started getting shiny purples. About 2 weeks after I joined, the same Priest with whom I did a dungeon with also joined <Argent Dawn> and we started chatting. She and I continued to chat for a few months and then exchanged phone numbers. We started chatting via the phone more and more, she and I ended up leaving <Argent Dawn> at the start of TBC and formed our own guild called <Damnation> (still alliance side of Illidan). We went through TBC content and towards the end, the guid unfortunately collapsed due to stonewalling progression on Kael'Thas in The Eye. Not wanting our relationship to end, we agreed to meet. At the time, the Priest lived in Ohio and I was in Oregon. We decided that we'd meet up in Ohio, so I flew out there mid-December for her birthday. We instantly hit it off and after staying with her for a week, we knew we were in love. She flew back with me to Oregon. That was in 2007. It's now 2014, we've been married for 5 years and have 2 children. We still play WoW and still raid in the same guild, but now we're on Ner'zhul still alliance side. WoW was not only a great game for me during my late teens, but it also brought me the love of my life and two wonderful children.P.S. Every episode of Catfish we watch, we're always disappointed because it never seems to end with a happy ending, when ours did so very much. :P
I've played since early 09 and still haven't made a friend in the game. That's an awesome story right?
My best friend in WoW today and easily one of my best friends out of game actually started out as my guild leader's arch-nemesis. I ended up breaking things off with my guild leader though and a while later started talking to my current friend and we just immediately hit it off. We actually might end up as room mates!
while i myself never met with anyone i got too know in WoW.i know how my guild officers were in a relation for a long time and WoW was the way for them too keep in contact every day since they lived quite far apart.last year however they finally moved in together. and it all seems well with each other so far, which i think is quite a succes story.if they met in WoW or before i'm not sure since i never found it any of my business too ask. but they kept contact a lot through WoW for years, before moving in with each other. which is why i think its worthy too mention it.

About 3 years ago I was sitting in Stormwind, nothing to do but read trade chat. I saw someone asking if anyone wanted to join a Sunwell group. Having never been, I asked if I could join. Cayslia was super nice, she explained all fights, made everyone feel comfortable, and even offered to make it a weekly run if you needed any gear. Since that day we have been friends, she still does old raids every week and she helps everyone whenever we need it. She has become one of my best friends, though we have never met in person. She is a wonderful person to have in a group, taking time to make sure things are done right. She has even bought time for me when I didn't have the money to buy it myself. Last year I had a little girl, I named her Caylee. Cay for the friend who has not only helped me the greatest in a game I love, but who also lends me an ear when my real life isn't going great. She was the start of a bunch of friendships. She brought a group of friends together that meet every Sunday in game for a night of fun and laughter.
Back in the vanilla days in wow I met a great friend who become later a real life friend indeed.Thank you WoW!
