Personally, I'm a great fan of the Eversong Woods. There's still the classical fantasy element of a typical elven forest, influenced by places like Rivendell and Lothlorien in the film adaptations of the Lord of the Rings, but the music particularly is quite chilling and sets the tone of the forest as only a facade of grandeur for a country still recovering from genocide, the loss of their King (and later Prince) and the source of their power. It can be quite breathtaking to see the zone for the first time, and upon my first look outside of the starting areas I took the opportunity to just sit down on the grass and soak up the views on a long-since abandoned hunter. Of course, with me being a roleplayer I probably appreciate the background more than many players, and the zone really reflects the sorrow that has dominated the last decade at least of my paladin's life, making it the perfect backdrop for her as a character. Of course, there's the same effect within the vastness of Silvermoon too, and I was really quite overwhelmed by its size the first time I went there! I think I was lost for almost 20 minutes or so, back when I was still a fledgling player, but I was astounded by the attention to detail.
i have always liked the ghostlands after burning crusade came out
Nagrand Breath taking and a whole lot of fun. When ever I level an alt I look forward to that zone the most.
My favorite zone is hands down Tol Barad Penninsula. The daily quests that the zone provides it is one of the few remaining places that players are not allowed to fly which allows for better pvp action between the players. I generally do the dailies, well.. daily, and I stay permanently flagged for the time that it takes me to complete all of them. It's fun not really ever knowing just who is going to try something and how many people are going to end up getting into it. I've been apart of full out battles between the Horde and Alliance until one side decided to give up. It's a great area for some pvp excitement with the restrictions of a no fly zone.
I liked the old Stranglethorn Vale, because you always had to watch out for gankers:)
strangle thorn valley i love killing trolls and animals
Stranglethorn Vale is awesome, full of booty bay, pirates, hunters. Such a great place to level and hang out.
Personally, id have to say that the Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj is my favorite zone based on the fact that the surrounding environment is constantly changing and the mobs were one of the most unstable in the game.
Blasted lands because i loved saving these little murlocs x)
I have to choose one? Um... I like pre-Shattered Silithus the most. I sometimes RP as a loner that studies history. (Yes, I love Archaeology!) Silithus has a very haunting story, completed by unique music and great architecture design. The epic quest-chain The Scepter of the Shifting Sands really brought this zone to life, emotionally speaking.
I think back to the old world pre-cata and I can remember many epic quest chains, but most of them spanned several zones. It is hard to find a single zone that had more than one memorable experience. For that reason, I am inclined to pick one of the later zones. My favorite zone then, would have to be Hellfire Peninsula. After stepping through the Dark Portal for the first time and setting eyes upon the moons of Draenor, I could not help but feel a sense of grandeur that was quickly put in check by the army of demons attacking the portal. The continuing story made you feel like you were part of something bigger, which was something that WoW had had a hard time doing in the past. This was the first of many zones that continued this trend, but Hellfire was the first that you were presented with.
Moonglade, the zone itself is aesthetically pleasing with the giant trees and tranquil pools, plus who doesn't need to blow off some steam from time to time by slaughtering thousands of critters.
I love Icecrown, The music matches the zone, the zone feels very dark like you would imagine the home of the lich king to feel. I love the story behind DKs and I love the quests involving them here. I love the raid here and just flying around the zone.My second would be Vashj'r. As a little girl I loved The little mermaid and this zone felt so much like it XD The quests were fun, the whale shark and weird snake thing scared the crap out of me. Being a druid, I found Aquatic form useful for once :DAlso love the steam pools, seems like a nice place to hang out :D
Loch Modan is my favorite, having leveled several toons in this area most of them dwarves or gnomes. I really enjoyed the quest out there. I found that killing the towering ogres best of all. I still visit this area on my 85's just here the ogres say they are going to eat me. Kobolds yelling no take candle is also funny.
Mine is Howling Fjord. Just felt really cool the first time i got there.
Mt Hyjal is by far the most intrigue zone for me. Having gone through the entire zone twice now (working on a third round with my hordie) I am loving the lore and quest layouts. Everything seems to be leading up to the new Firelands 4.2 and its got me excited :) I always start out with Hyjal as a new 80
My favorite zone is still Grizzly hills, the mountains, the forest, and the music... all of it just awed me in so many ways. Still one of my favorite zones and I even bought the WotLK OST just for that song (and a couple others, great OST)
