I love what this book did for all these characters. <3
Loved him in classic when he was the only forsaken "hero character" in the game that looked anything like the players.Have been mortified with everything that happened to him from Legion and onwards. A lovable cult-classic of a character driven into the ground by what many people can't help but imagine is at least partially Danusers self-inserting.I'll miss my grumpy skeleton hunter and his dogs.I won't miss the annoying bearded human.
"Why is he such a %^&*?There is no doubt that Nathanos was not an easy man to know. Many players hated him for his blind loyalty to her"it wasnt BLIND loyalty though, she told him everything so you can hardly call it blind loyalty, if she hadnt told him the details or of her plan with the jailer at all and he was like "you dont have to tell me what your plan is, if you command me to do something without telling me the reason i will do it still" THEN it would be blind loyalty
It was nice to see a character break the mold even if "Nathanos was that guy who hid fondness with criticism" and ****ing exhausting to deal with. Made it all the more satisfying to put him to rest."Blind loyalty" more like "Love-blind" imo.
How many times has it been debunked that Nathanos was a self insert character? Many times but people are mindlessly using this point? You guys are cute
If only the people in this comment section knew how many characters in WoW were "self inserts." I wonder how they would all feel. Thrall for instance? Blatant Metzen self-insert.
I wish we could throw him into lava and watch him die, then someone catches his soul and kills it so he can never come back and he doens't go to shadowlands he just dies forever. He's such a poorly written character.
Just finished the audiobook. It was very enjoyable! I love the WoW audiobooks, for better or worse - I love the performances and Patty Mattson is wonderful. I highly recommend it to all!
ahh Nathanos ship...worst thign to happen to sylvanas 2nd only to writers Garrosh-ing her.never let a person make their fanfic in your game.
I HATED Nathanos with a passion during BFA. I could not stand it when I had to talk to him or do quests with him. His cantankerous and dismissive attitude made me want to turn off the game at times. Then I read the book. I will have to admit, that for all my distain for an inanimate character in a video game, Golden's writing made me look at Nathanos in a different light. I felt like I understood his character more and accepted that he was the way he was because he hated his lot in life that Sylvanas made him fulfill. I think he just wanted to retire at his homestead and raise pigs with his Banshee Queen at his side. But a nondescript life was not in the cards for the likes of Sylvanas, so she trudgingly brought Nathanos with her. Nathaos didn't want to be in Zandalar, siting on the deck of that boat handing quests out to the "Speaker of the Horde". He did what he did for the love of Sylvanas because that was what she wanted him to do. I guess in the end I didn't like Nathanos because he was gruff and in Paryah's words a "!@#$", but because of the new light shed on this character I knew why he was a $%^& and for that I guess Nathanos gets a pass in my book.
And cuck by Anduin, what a pathetic end lol
I'm one of the rare few here: I like Nathanos quite a bit. There are literally 1000+ of NPCs who worship us players in game, all the complements and fawning, it's honestly getting tiresome, irritating even. Nathanos and Staghelm were those powerful characters who would not shake their tails at us, and I appreciate it. He may be a self-insert, but an enjoyable one (I love sarcasm and dry humor), and Nathanos's dalliance with Sylvannas is certainly better than Thrall's.The only suggestion I'd make to Nathanos's character is that he would, at the end of our long story quest line, finally complements players (sincerely) for their worth. It never hurts to reveal a gruff character's tenderer inside, and that little crack would make him a much more likable tsundere. On a side note: It's pretty easy to see who's the dog person and who's the cat person in this comment section.
Unlike Sylvanas Danuser, Nathanos is certainly a character who has had a very good evolution in the history of WoW. At no time does he change for script reasons, he remains himself, an embittered &*!@#$% who has nothing to do with the living. In itself, the worthy champion of the Forsaken. In all honesty, I would have liked to have him as the new leader of the Forsaken (Him or Lillian Voss) instead of Calia, who just has no charisma and in no way embodies this faction that I have loved so much since my debut on WOTLK.
Damn. Tyrande just s*** on Sylvanas even harder when she killed Nathanos. He was killed when the Arbiter was down, meaning he wasn't judged. So when she finds him, he'll be sent back to Pelagos for judgement and sent back to which ever realm fits him best.So even though Sylvanas may have a fleeting moment of hope if she finds him, it'll be taken away and she'll be alone all over again.Man, Tyrande's punishment is even more brutal than originally thought.
