For each upcoming patch, the Wowhead team compiles overviews of popular topics like classes and legendaries. Last week we covered
class changes
, and today we're looking at legendaries in 7.3.2 with the upcoming raid Antorus the Burning Throne.
While there are not a large amount of new legendaries coming in Patch 7.3.2, there are two high-impact ones, a new way to upgrade legendaries to ilvl 1000, and some BoA legendary tokens.
Legendary Item Level
With a new raid comes a new item level for legendaries. When
Antorus, the Burning Throne
opens, new legendaries will drop at
ilvl 1000
. Back in the Tomb of Sargeras patch, all legendaries dropped at ilvl 940 until the raid actually opened, so we expect similar behavior here.
Upgrading Legendaries
You can upgrade existing legendaries to ilvl 1000 when Antorus opens via
Awoken Titan Essence
. This works similar to past upgrade quests:
Collect 50
Wakening Essence
to create
Awoken Titan Essence
, used to upgrade
one
legendary to ilvl 1000. You will need to repeat the process for additional legendary items.
Following the pattern of past legendary upgrade currencies,
Wakening Essence
is likely rewarded from the following:
Weekly Mythic+ Chest
Antorus, the Burning Throne bosses
Emissary caches
First daily Legion heroic dungeon
Weekly PvP rewards
Cursed Shard
starts
The Cursed Shard
which rewards 10
Wakening Essence
.
The
Patch 7.3 Q&A
stated that upgrading your legendary to ilvl 1000 should work much in the same way as past upgrades.
New Legendaries
Two new legendaries are added in Patch 7.3.2. However these are
not
spec-specific, world-drop legendaries.
Insignia of the Grand Army
:
Reward from
Antorus, the Burning Throne: The Death of a Titan
to defeat Argus the Unmaker.
Increases the Tier 2 effects of the
Netherlight Crucible
by 50%:
Light:
Infusion of Light
Light Speed
Light's Embrace
Refractive Shell
Secure in the Light
Shocklight
Shadow:
Dark Sorrows
Torment the Weak
Chaotic Darkness
Shadowbind
Murderous Intent
Master of Shadows
Aman'Thul's Vision
:
Drop from
Argus the Unmaker
on Normal, Heroic, or Mythic.
Provides every secondary stat, with an effect that procs Speed, Avoidance, and Leech.
Aman'Thul's Grandeur
, an additional proc granting primary stats, activates when you and three other players in your party/raid have the Pantheon trinket effects overlap. This trinket proc serves as a wildcard - while players normally need four different trinkets to activate the secondary proc, you can activate it with multiple
Aman'Thul's Vision
.
This is one of the
Pantheon Trinkets
. The other trinkets, which are epic in quality, start at ilvl 940 and must be upgraded to ilvl 1000 by acquiring
Pantheon's Blessing
from weekly Argus kills.
Presumably, these items are not part of the bad-luck protection system for legendary droprates, much in the same way the crafted items do not count. However, there has not been official confirmation on this topic.
Legendary Equip Cap
The regular legendary equip cap is still set at
2
. However, players can have more equipped at once via two spec-specific legendaries and
Aman'Thul's Vision
.
Aman'Thul's Vision
is not considered a "Legion Legendary" but it does count as one of the Titan Trinkets. So you cannot equip, for example,
Aman'Thul's Vision
and
Khaz'goroth's Courage
at the same time.
There are no current plans to expand the legendary equip cap for spec-specific legendaries. This was addressed in the
Patch 7.2.5 Q&A
.
Bind on Account Legendary Tokens
Some players that focus on their mains have acquired all possible legendaries for their class. In Patch 7.3.2, these players will be able to continue to earn legendaries through the form of Bind on Account tokens.
These legendary tokens are not intended to serve as a catch-up mechanism, but if you already have every legendary for your class (not just your specialization), you'll be able to keep earning legendary rewards instead of nothing. These tokens can then be sent to your alts.
In the
gamescom interview with FatbossTV
, Ion acknowledged that the legendary system for brand-new players could be adjusted, as it doesn't feel great to attempt max-level group content without any legendaries. However, these legendary tokens do not address that particular audience, as initially speculated via datamining.

I played on my mage for months on end and I am still only at 4 legendaries with him. I ran mythics, regular raids, LFR, cleared all my world quests, emissaries, etc. I paused the game for a month and came back to continue the full clearing and have still yet to see a legendary past my initial 4. Not sure why blizzard is making this "Get all on one, then your alts may get something" mentality. I have to go now, I have to pull 5 more alts through the Argus opening to get their dailies to open.
i don't see or understand how this is possible. I leveled my ret paladin and began raiding heroic NH 2 weeks before ToS released and have 10/12 legendary drops. i do
maybe
2 emissaries per week outside of raiding H ToS and running 5-6 M 10+ keys per week.
If anything this just showes how broken the current RGN is. Over the time of several month there should not be such a huge spread of one Player having only 4 legendaries and another already having 10 of 12. It's sad and showes the disconnect beween Blizzard developers and their fanbase.

So going by the tooltips, you can send a token for a legendary to an alt...
of the same class
as the character who got the drop. Or it's a random class. Either way, not very useful. :-(
I agree. The system should be that if someone has all legendaries possible, they will get a legendary token that they can use purchase the BoA legendary tokens. How useful is it to get a BoA Hunter legendary token when you don't have more than 1 Hunter.
The final system will probably be something like this. As clueless as Blizz devs are, they don't do OBVIOUSLY stupid things like give you more legendaries for the same class. There WILL be a way for your alts to get more legendaries, just be patient and wait for the announcement instead of jumping on partial information dug up by randos with too much time on their hands (the wowhead staff).

I have 1-3 of each class, so it is easier for me to find a toon to send a alt-legendary to.
However, with that amount of alts, I hardly have time to make sure my main have gotten every legendary for all specs.
So... not really usefull.
