FINALLY a good looking alternative to curse, that i always used, but now i am just fed with, premium functions all over, feels really not-that-user-friendly, but this minion (lock references ftw ^^d) really seems the type of program that can shake up the market. Really looking for this awesome alternative to ditch one by one update.GO MINION \m/.
The Mac OS X version does not seem to run with Cocoa. It looks like Java. Am I wrong?
I have a question - Does this work with installing UI packages?
This new thingy is good news now that Curse Client is 100% more useless to me... can't believe how they suddenly tried to squeeze cash out of everyone for the ability to "Update All". Very disappointed in that.
Actually, the Curse Client draws lots of information from your computer and your gameplay and also uses keyloggers. Soooo, yeah this one they've come up with sounds better. Being able to control security features is of utmost importance.
I would never pay $3.45 to update my add-ons. That whole idea... Nevermind, :-) I would highly consider testing this beta version out and actually using it if it remains "free" to regular users (as opposed to subscribers only). The ads wouldn't bother me really.
This post was from a user who has deleted their account.
Back in the TBC days and such I used WowAceUpdater and must admite I loved the program... I'm almost addicted to it... can't get it out of my mind... It had all functionalities... Smooth and easy way to update all addons, autoinstall dependencies - and my most beloved feature - Install the addon seperatly in one folder and the required Libaries (dependencies) in their seperate folder...Suddenly WowAce was forced to shut down due to financial problems I guess and I had to find an alternative... curse.... the name really fitted well... It had deleted addons, reset my UI and just been a regular pain in the ass... and NOW the update all costs money...So I am really really really looking forward to see this... Hopefully it'll bring along some nice and smooth features making keep your addons up to date easily...And adds, well if thats what it takes for it to be free then bring it on...
This > Curse. You guys are a life saver
Okay. Seems I was too witty for some people. I have used Curse, WowMatrix and others. I stuck with WowMatrix because of no popups, no ads, no bandwidth throttle, etc. I'm willing to check something out and not just take it at face value without using it. Word of mouth in-game from friends you've known in real life too tends to make you check out stuff just to see if what they tell you is true.Too much sarcasm I guess. I stated in my post that if the addons were made shareware and a fee added that "I would not hold my breath" because no one would pay it anyway. I already knew about the "Blizzard not allowing that" point and was being sarcastic because of everyone always fussing about bandwidth. I also stated that the authors sure seem to always say that they do the addons for the love of whatever game it is they play. Be it Starcraft, Diablo, Everquest, etc. Granted, they throw in the "Donate" stuff with all of them and some would be worth a donation to show appreciation to the author. Yet I've also had addons freshly installed throw up popups instantly wanting a donation. And I had not even logged into the game and used the addon yet.I currently use 24 addons (counting parts like Auctioneer for example) since I have a character from every class because I want to learn them all. All but 3 of these update just fine with Wowmatrix which I currently use. One of those 3 is a hunter pet xp one so probably won't get updated very often. The other 2 can simply be replaced if it comes down to it.Also, this did ask for feedback. Just because I want to give my point of view and it is not the same one you currently have is not wrong. Try looking at ALL angles of a topic and opening your mind to someone else's thoughts but your own. Each person's experiences are different and not everyone runs into the same situations as you. I found what works for me and get tired of everyone bashing it simply because I don't want to be just like them and use exactly what they use. Variety is the spice of life as they say and that is why there are so many different programs out that that do the same thing. Find one you like and stick with it unless the "newest and hottest" thing is just so much better that you can't live without it. In that case, get it and tell people about it but don't scream at them when they don't want to use it.
