Do nobody remember how on the Vindicaar Xe'ra tried to force the light onto Illidan, and got destroyed for it? Rejection of the GiftHow the Mag'har Orcs are decimated by the Draenei-led Light, with Grommash sacrificing himself so some can escape and join the Horde? It's been proven that the Light isn't always as pure as they seem. So in my opinion it's possible that the Titans are the invading force, and not all that "good" as they seem to be. Azeroth being a planet under controle of the Old Gods, gets invaded by Titans, who destroy Y'Shaarj and imprison all the others, just for not complying with their view on how things need to be. The same now proven with the dragons that they brainwash some to drink from tainted water and giving them some of their power, to then rebel against their own kind (proto-drakes) to take controle over Azeroth and her faith. It's possible that Azeroth is an Old God, or a more powerfull being, who's being corrupted by the Titans to become something she is not. There is a way to see this as a form of forced religion, like how some of our religions go to other countries and try to force their religion onto the native people. But that's pure speculation on my part, I have no clue what will happen in the future of Azeroth.
I stil someday which we realize that N'Zoth had us all the time and we never returned, trapped in his dream while he is slightly corrupting us and the "win" was just an illusion.
Blizzard with WoW is not Square Enix with FFXIV.Blizzard has never had a complex storyline, and as someone else in the comments already pointed out, this is far too much foresight for Blizzard to pull off. For Square though? I can 100% see it happening. Then again, with the Green Jesus back now and the employees that made Dragonflight a success it has been through its story so far, perhaps it might be a reality. Maybe.
This would be a really cool twist, if not for the fact that Blizzards clown squad of writers can't consistently plan 1 patch ahead, let alone 2 expansions.
Remember, N'Zoth may be the weakest of all known Old Gods, but his true stength lies on his mind powers, perhaps being the strongest when it comes to mind corruption and control. Being his nature to see all truths as a possiblity, he envisioned his defeat, imprisonment, release, then death as the worst of the truths, and set in motion his plans in order to avoid his ultimate fate.
