Fishing has been working like this since at least July. Is it a coincidence that I just posted this as a tip on a bug report on the forums 8 hours ago? lolEdit: you also always have been able to catch crates from the pools with fishing skill 1.
When Pilgrim's Bounty came around this year, I think there was a similar article posted saying that the buff from Pilgrim's Bounty gave XP and stacked with the anniversary buff. This wasn't true, as Pilgrim's Bounty (was nerfed to?) only give rep.The Darkmoon Faire does still seem to give XP though!
This fishing change has been live for a while, at least since 9.1 I think. I was like "odd my alt with 80 classic fishing is getting this done in 5 casts instead of 25".
Seconding deathlavitz; my current main was done with the quest in five casts back in Legion. No way did I get good RNG at level 1 fishing either. Still, it's a good reminder that it's a very low-maintenance quest that just takes a little over two or so minutes to do, with absolutely ZERO effort. Well, some effort if you're lazy and think lifting a finger is hard work, but still! Also, this article should've been live earlier, don't you think? Kinda silly to tell us late into a day, or a day late in the early hours for players on the other side of the world.
Fishing has worked like that since 9.1 as others have mentioned. However, this article needs a correction: Fishing on Darkmoon Island DOES give you Shadowlands skill points if you have SL Fishing learned. If you don't have SL fishing learned yet, you will get no skill points for any other expansion. This was true since the 9.1 change, and I have just verified that it's still the case.
10% Experience Buff Stacks with Anniversary BuffFor 1 whole day, Anniversary Buff ends 12/6/ at 10am.
Actually, you get shadowlands fishing skill ups if you have shadowlands fishing unlocked. Not sure until what level, my shadowlands fishing is low but fishing up the fish gets me a level here and there. Maybe it ends at 150, 100, dunno.
That explains the massive price drop on those Darkmoon Fishes. Sadge.
Fun for the Little Ones also requires Archaeology skill 1 now, instead of 75.
The problem is a lot of vanilla fishing hasn't been working - I was hoping DMF would be a way to get that unstuck.
Uh, the Anniversary event doesn't last the whole week. It ends today at 10AM realm time, and it's already over for ET and CT realms. There was only a 34 hour window when the Anniversary and DMF overlapped.
Super sad I didn't realize this before now. Oh well. Got one dungeon done on my baby alt before the buff went away.
Cool change for the fishing. Darkmoon Faire was good now it's better. Thanks.
