Just when i thought Blizzard would include a system that makes you decide, the easy mode player base steps in the take that away, because making choices and sacrifices is hard.
Testing and not knowing what to do next ins't the same thing...You first think of your knew system, then think about how to make it work THEN you do the testing to see if it work and change the number. So if you dont find a way to make it work, you don't even have to go to the testing phase. Here they just think of a knew system and put it on testing without knowing how it will work.... So if they don't find a way to make it work, it will be to late to change it and we still gonna have the not well working system on live...
I'm having a hard time of thinking of an elegant solution. The cooldown to swap conduits seems like the simplest one, but how would that cooldown work? Like if you take a conduit out you can't insert it again? What if you have multiples of the same conduit, they would share the cooldown?Maybe a 20 hour cooldown to reset the whole conduit tree? But then it means you can't change to a new conduit that you just got until the next day if you used the reset cooldown in the same day.Maybe a different cooldown on each conduit slot. Like if you insert something in a slot, you can't insert something else before it recharges. Hmm, nah.Preferably I would like a way for you to test different conduits before settling for something. The specific conduit type cooldown seems like the best option so far.
Why can't we just rely on our God damn abilities and talents for BEST GAME PLAY EVER?
Blizzard is listening. Thank you. Thank you! Im beginning to be hopeful about upcoming system. Hope blizzard come up with some idea for covenant abilities too.
I'd expect that conduits will continue to be destroyed if you replace them, but that you will be able to choose the path on the soulbind tree and swap between those paths at your Covenant home. That way you aren't destroying conduits when you want to use a different tree on the same soulbind, they will just become inactive if you swap between branches. This way you wouldn't be forced to grind out conduits for every single slot whenever you want to take a different ability, only when you want to change what you already have slotted.
I honestly don't see the issue with the essence system being used wholesale, the respec isn't that bad.At the end of the day, there are what - 3 throughput conduits in a SB IF you're lucky, some just have 2. Those are your things that you're likely to want to swap out, and a lot of the time if it's a ST or AOE boss fight the swaps are going to be obvious. If you're swapping 3-4 conduits that's in line with changing your essences currently, and I certainly don't mind juggling my essences around. You also have the added ease of 3+ pre-made loadouts, if one of the other SBs is already decent you can just have that set up for AOE in advance and another for ST and swap with 1 click of a button.I understand Ion being wary of this, but it's a significantly lesser evil than destructible conduits and I'd argue better than the comment suggestion of having a 24h CD or something, that's just going to result in annoying situations where you or even your guild is feeling penalized by some arbitrary timer. The last thing the game needs is players being swapped for someone on the bench because they can arbitrarily respec their conduits and the guy who was in for a previous one can't.If the conduits are miniscule gains then people can just use suboptimal stuff if the swaps are annoying and get by fine.If the conduits are major gains then the last thing you want is an arbitrary timer stopping you functioning for no real reason.Just let people swap freely.Imagine actually trying to experiment with conduits early on and then having a 24h CD on changing them to something optimal. Enjoy the bench if you socket something bad within a day of raiding. It's absurd to actually want a CD on this thing, it kills experimentation.
My Conduit Proposal:Item drops as they are, only added to to an Essence-like system instead of your inventory. You earn them, they're there to pick and choose.Make them unique equip to the same soulbind so that you can't use two of the same one at the same time. Have them changeable only at rest areas.Done.This way I can farm them, I can slot whatever I want to wherever it goes. I can make a 'loadout' then go out and play with it. If I don't like it, I can come back and mix it up again. It makes me feel more in control, cause I can prepare for something beyond buying food and flasks.
Ion has clearly expressed that the goal is to make conduits not easily swappable, like just by going to rest areas or even just going back to the covenant area. They are open to changing that but only as a last resort. Therefore any idea we have needs to fill that goal.
Or just remove the whole conduits idea, redesign the talent systems taking out the ones no one ever picks, and incorporate the better conduit options into the talent system.
"It's basically before every encounter, you are now in addition to talents, in addition to your spec, in addition to all of this, evaluating which of these many different conduits you're going to activate in each of these nodes. The game doesn't need more of that" That doesn't sound like too much to be honest. Theres only 7 talent rows, some of which dont really change that often anyway for most specs. So what exacly is wrong with letting you swap on the fly, when not in combat? Why does blizzard insist on thinking we are not capable of knowing and thinking for ourselves in order to know what to switch to for each fight? Its only like 5 maybe 6 conduit slots and after a little while of playing with the soulbinds, you'll know what they give you without looking. Seems to me that blizzard doesn't want something and is using the "players cant handle it" excuse, again.
