This is so disappointing... I was looking forward to this feature more than any from this expansion. It is frustrating to think I will not be able to play the older expansion to its natural end. Going back to one shot everything is boring...I was also hoping (I know it would not be the case) that the world (lore wise etc) would revert to that expansion. Essentially if you do any expansion before Legion, Varian Wrynn is still alive... if you do Cataclysm, Stormwind is still wrecked... That is my ideal. I miss the feeling of being immersed in the expansion. I miss the areas being populated by players all questing. Now alot of the areas are empty, unless there is a mount to farm. For me I was really hoping that this would breathe new life into the past expansions..I guess I just have to wait for "classic" versions?
No. This current iteration is bad. What should happen is you stayed in Chromie time until you choose to exit. However, you also do not continue to gain XP and are essentially frozen at 50.
Yes, they should just disable XP gain at 50 but allow the mobs to stay scaled and not allow teleporting. Here's to hoping this gets fixed before launch.
This is is either dumb/not thought out/simply not finished yet. Freeze the XP, put out a warning to player and let us continue where we were.
This feature looks ideally good for doing LFG dungeons from old expansions, which they should absolutely do! But ya if everything caps at 50 during a non Shadowlands expansion, Im fine with that. I purposely didnt level any alts before the next expansion so I can start from scratch with this new system. Hopefully LFG stuff and even LFR for those expansions would be awesome if enabled! Honestly Im more excited about replaying legacy expansions than the new one...
Lol people crying about not being to do old content at an engaging level. Um...can guarantee NONE of these people take the effort to do this currently. You currently have the option to join twink guilds that run old raids, dungeons, etc. (Yes, there are twink guilds, google/youtube is your proof). Do any of you join these communities or use lfg tool to run old content at the appropriate levels? No, you don't even if the option is currently present. There's also party sync (even though it isn't really fun). There's plenty of ways to currently engage in old content at the appropriate level, yet no one takes part in it. Whiny ass &*!@#es in 2020 just need another thing to cry about. The problem with 2020 in comparison to 2004 is the amount of entitled ^&*!bags in the world. Instead of being grateful for paying 15$ a month(couch change) for a multi-million dollar gaming experience, they cry about every little detail that doesn't suit maybe 0.3% of the player population. Get over it.
1 of the thinks they might implement is dungeon raiding. by that i mean scaling down raid bosses where only group of 5 players can kill them. raid scaled to dungeon . another thing is heroic dungeons scaling. these should be available during leveling as normal dungeons.
Just weighing in to agree with those that have said there should be a popup, asking if you would like to stay in Chromie Time where XP won't be as beneficial, or to opt out and move on. At the very least, it gives people the option to stay until the end of the expansion, just finish the thing they were doing, or full bail and head to Shadowlands.
I totally agree with this feedback, it shouldn't work like this, and allowing you to still do these old zones at a scaled level (even if the xp is negated or with a lvl decrease) even after you leveling phase would be a great addition.
I like the idea of just disabling exp gain at 50 outside shadowlands and keeping the mobs at 50 with the breadcumb quest that pops up once you hit 50 to head to SL IF you want to...By no means whatsoever should it just teleport you out after leveling though...SO many things wrong with that from ruining groups to potentially missing item drops or achievements ect ect
The single, smartest, game-longevity increasing action that Blizzard could do is allowing players to level-sync to the older content at any given moment. Imagine doing older dungeons level-appropriate. Imagine going through all the campaigns level appropriate. Imagine doing content level-appropriate. Imagine every bit of content ever created for this game remaining relevant at all times.I sure hope that this booting-out gets scrapped and they add a permanent switch for this Chromie time thing. Flick, you're back in the older content while it still being a challenge. Flick, you can do latest-expansion stuff.I would think that's a great idea, let's put it in!
Chromie be like "you've already wasted enough of our and everyone's time, go do some actual content"That's rude
I think automatically turning off XP gain once you reach 50 would be a better solution than kicking people out of the middle of questing. Kicking them out disrupts the players experience of the game and would be very disconcerting to new players who have never seen the content before.I am a player who will play through all the quests well after I've hit max level (its why Pathfinder has never been a issue for me, its 3/4s done for me months ago), so if I were to be kicked out of the zone because the game said I need to go level over here instead of there, I would be pissed.
Congratulations on level 50! You are no longer welcome. Goodbye.
I like the idea of giving the person the option to continue but not be able to gain experience. The free port to your capital city, if you decline, seems nice.
This is a horrible idea ... World of Warcraft to me is all about the story .. and quests.. Not being able to play these expansions to completion not only deprives players of the experience that makes Warcraft what it is, but it also robs them of the rich story that made the game what it is today. I've made characters and disabled the experience just to play through the content and enjoy it from previous expansions. Why rush all the way to the end just to have another job doing dailies and world quests? That's no fun at all. Enjoy the game the way it was meant to be enjoyed. Blizzard should fix this problem as soon as possible. Not doing so defeats the purpose of what the Chromie experience was intended to give in the first place.
