in my opinion, none of the tier sets are attractive enough for me to want to farm the pieces. most of the good-looking armour came from pre-60th level crafting, quest rewards, and world drops. a lot of BC and WotLK stuff and almost all of the Cata, MoP, and WoD gear are fugly, as far as i'm concerned.then again, i've actually worn armour and have an idea of what's both comfortable and functional for me.but that's just my dos pesos on the subject.
Will the current races get racial gear?
I don't really mind this new take if that means they'll amp up the details on normal/heroic gear sets as well (with more resources dedicated to each sets).Since the family guild I'm in usually raid with around 15-23ppl and could never maintain a fixed mythic raiding rooster, and at least half of the legion non-mythic class sets look dull enough I would never xmog into them anyway.I wouldn't really worry about classes like demon hunters and dks as well. There are still plenty of undead and demon themes around that they could build sets with. What I am worried about however, are monks. They are just so outlandish in the game and hardly anything outside Pandaria or their current class sets would fit on them. But then, even with the single model per armor type planned in BfA, there is still the possibility for them to slightly alter how the armors look on each class. Certain armor pieces already look different on different genders. Can't say a similar take on different classes would be entirely out of the question.
How can he say there'll be more variety if each armor type gets one, singular set each raid instead of their pick of 2-4 different recolors from their fellow classes on each difficulty?
What about weapons? I'm tired of this whole Flintstones meets 40k aesthetic that weapons have had since WotLK. I'd like a sword that looks like it's made from steel.
it's as if the majority of commenters here forgot that transmog is a thing.I can count on one hand the amount of people wearing current tier stuff in each alt's class hall. it's not going to matter. we'll get newly detailed gear pieces for our collection and continue to mix and match for fancy new transmog outfits.
I just noticed void elves don't have a sickpack of abs and nightborne do!
I hate the idea of removing tier bonuses, but ideas of more general style sound not so bad. As a hunter mainer I'm so tired of gutted beast sets and I want something more accurate and elegant, but it was quite hard to find because non-hunter sets are for shamans and they aren't accurate and elegant at a basic. Maybe more colour schemes, and it would be good.
"In the short term, if you want that iconic Paladin look, there are dozens of options out there for you."Yeah but... they're all low res... :c
This sounds more like an attempt to do less for less money. Lets just get rid of tier sets so we don't have to create 11 different sets of art and just give the players 4 armor sets instead, and we'll save a @#$% ton of money, man hours, and can focus on a part of the game the players wont like anyway.
Dang. I have so many thoughts about this and sadly, none of them are positive.Firstly, I am a die-hard mogger. The way each of my characters looks is deliberate, researched, and the most important aspect of each of my toons. I also change it up every couple months of active play, so I have several saved looks for each of my characters. (Talking about approximately 30 saved looks across 10 actively played level 110 toons) None of them are using assets from Vanilla or BC because the texture qualities are so outdated, and some of the looks too, that they are just no longer relevant, as much as I might still like them to be. Wrath gear and onward only, in terms of what I can bear to see in HD. Many folks on here echoing Blizzard's sentiment of 'classes already have dozens of class-themed raid sets to collect' well, I just explained why I won't use any from the first 2 xpacs anymore, the art just doesn't hold up. But let's talk about Demon Hunters for a hot second. They don't have dozens to choose from they have... 3? I honestly didn't like any of them and was eager to see the new DH sets from the new expansion to find some new gear goals. That excitement has abated. (Yes, I'm that guy who goes for look over stats, but it ends up making me do the end-game raiding content regardless so what's the issue?) I'm sure we will see some cool leather armor sets, but something to feel appropriate for my cool new DH? Nope. Not if that same set also magically works for a friggin' monk or druid. Also, it will be piratey or trollish or aquatic-looking? WTF. Can't defend.Saying that this will give folks more options in transmog is a blatant lie and that pisses me off more than anything else revealed for BforA so far. Going from 12 class sets per raid down to 4... Please don't make me explain to you why 4 is a smaller number than 12. People blaming the art dept. for being lazy regarding this decision? Get a grip. Professional artists work on what they're told to by their art directors, and their orders come down from on high: executive decisions made by folks who have no real connection to the artists. It's clearly a money-saving decision, or at least to focus art's attention elsewhere, my guess is the next expansion or something so far unannounced. Or worse, nowhere in particular, they just decided this was a fine place to cut costs/lay off members of the art team. T_TIt is an incredibly strange decision in my mind to focus so much on class differentiation and lore in Legion only to remove class identity in the form of gear sets in the very next expansion. It is unfortunate, at the least, and completely demotivating to play much of BforA at worst. Unfortunately it's the latter for me. If a huge part of my wow-playing enjoyment/time over the past many years has been to collect those iconic class looks for each of my characters... what excitement does this new expansion bring? Death Knights and Paladins should never look the same. :( (And to echo a poster above, iconic sets for each of the races, not just allied ones, would be a very welcome addition.)
Sitting in BfA, wondering where this so called armor variety is.
