Well, since the Necrolords were supposed to be "the defenders of Shadowlands" they would actually need an external threat to defened them from. Demons, Void and Light are perfect for this. Legion uses souls as fuel and can travel between planes. It's not far fetched that they could reach into the Shadowlands.
Can't wait for blizzard to bust out the proof later on that it's not re-used and actually important to the lore and all of you negative ass nancies have to eat your words.
I think the explanation is that they just re-used scenes cuz they were really similar, but I think this can have a lore explanation. Sire Denathrius is a nathrezim, it's pretty obvious, though I think he might be a different type of nathrezim than Tichondrous or Mal'Ganis, he would be a "Death Nathrezim". Maybe these felguards are not felguards, but actually deathguards, and are just the shadowlands version of the race the felguards come from. I'm not the only with this theory, some people said it on twitter too.
Linking that Reforged video was a CHOICE.
bLiZzArD bEiNg LaZy...yeah that's how you people sound. Clearly the next frame shows us the same spot with different environment, even this article specifies that. Yet people have to act like sheep.
I don't think it's weird at all having the demons there. The demons were being lead by a fallen and corrupted titan. If titans knew about all the other pantheons in the planets and where the void is, I don't think it's a stretch at all then. Sargeras wanted power to overwhelm those that would not follow willingly so he would have had to known about the Shdowlands specially now that lore is hinting at the Jailer being another possible fallen titan and the fact that there was so much usable power there that he could harness.
Imo it is lazy to use a four year old shot with a filter on it and some splotches at the side especially when it doesn't explain anything or has context as to what is going on.
The cinematics team is NOT lazy. They don't just reuse something just for lack of effort. If they put something in, they have a reason.
If you look closely at the new one, you can see on the left a tree that does not exist in the old one, and the mountain in the background is not in the same place. That means Blizzard has modified the previous scene. They could create a scene of 2 seconds, or not put any scene in that part, but they chose to modify an old one, obviously it is made on purpose so that we see that it is the same place.
So, they're the same Felguards: Bob and Steve from the Illidan short?
Blizzard is re-using icons from Warcraft 3 but you are all ready to formalize theories over 2 common shots on 2 different videos. The fan base is strong.
Also, if shadowlands is a realm and simliar in power to the titans the whole "they would fall if azeroth is destroyed" is inaccurate. Because like Azeroth, there are other planets out there - that its weakened over time could just mean other worlds have been destroyed, the events seen on azeroth could defiantly not help either. Its not like Sylvanus did something and suddenly boom problems. From what i've read from the articles it a problem - like shown in the video with uther.
Harbingers : Illidan goes to the demon stronghold in what is probably some part of Outland.Afterlives : Draka is investingating the same stronghold in alternate draenor ? Same place, different landscape. That could also be an explanation.
Did they fight the burning legion? Maybe. Were they lazy and reused art? Yes.
