15 ears can be turned in at the D.E.H.T.A. camp for this 30 minute buff: Blessing of D.E.H.T.A. The buff's usefulness is limited because the buff only works in Borean Tundra, however it is nice for leveling.

The quest turn in is repeatable. Each turn in of 15 ears gives 150 reputation with Cenarion Expedition and continues to do so past Revered, so if you are looking to reach exalted with CE, farm these ears which has a 50% drop rate from most of the humanoids near the D.E.H.T.A. camp.

Minion of Kaw (click for locations) is my favorite mob to farm for these, since they hang around in a very tight little bunch, but the drawback is that you could accidentally AoE Kaw if someone is on the quest for him.

My second favorite location is that area just to the east of Valiance Keep with Northsea Mercenary and Northsea Thug. There are two areas where they also really congregate tightly.

Probably the fastest way for most level 80 characters to build up Cenarion Expedition rep without just emptying the AH of expensive Coilfang Armaments.

Did anyone else notice that it says you can pickpocket the ears off the divers... don't you think they would notice that 1-2 of their ears were just taken?

They should make these usable as fishing bait. I usually only get these when I'm fishing at Lake Kum'uya and a Hunter or Diver attacks me.

I have to agree with AstralFire that the Minions of Kaw are great to farm the ears. I wanted to get the Guardian of Cenarius title and needed 19,000 rep with Cenarion Expedition. I figured that's 127 times that I would have to turn in the quest which meant I needed to gather 1905 ears. I initially was planning on just getting like 75 a day for a while, but the drop rate is so high and the mobs respawn almost instantly, I was able to gather ~150-200 ears per hour.

Not only do you get the ears, you also get tons of Frostweave Cloth, misc. greens, and a good chunk of gold.

The mobs drop on average 20 silver each, I probably killed ~3000 mobs altogether that means I looted about 600g, I also looted 46 greens, 2 BoE blues, and 28 stacks of Frostweave. For those wanting Cenarion Expedition rep, I would definitely suggest this over doing Steamvaults over and over.

I did a bit of informal testing this evening to see how fast I could earn rep with these Minions of Kaw. I read about them in the comments for Coilfang Armaments as an alternative to grinding those for rep. After trying them out for the first time last night, I was so impressed with what I got for so little work, I wanted to see what the exact numbers were.

It took me 44 minutes to collect 200 ears. That's a rate of ~273 ears per hour. That's 18 turn-ins of 15, with 3 left over. The 18 turns of 150 reputation points each gives you a total of 2700 rep per hour (2970 for humans). Pretty good considering how easy it is to grind these mobs at Level 80. I never once had to wait for a mob to spawn, I could go from corpse to next target practically instantly. In fact, sometimes as I was looting a corpse, it's replacement would spawn right on top of me.

Looking at it another way, it'd take about 7 hours 42 minutes of grinding (not including turning in, emptying bags if necessary, or anything else--just pure grinding) to gather enough ears to go from 0/21000 Revered to hitting Exalted.

Do watch for the yell that Kaw gives when he's about to enter combat, and be courteous by trying to avoid tagging him before the quester does. (I accidentally did this once, and almost again on the respawn, but I stood there and took his attacks for a few seconds while the quester got his act together. At Level 80, he--or I should say, his mammoth, who's really attacking at first--doesn't hit very hard.)

If you go after a minion that's attacking a mammoth, watch your AoE to avoid aggroing the mammoth. Unless you don't care. I did care, partly for RP reasons, and partly because wasting a few seconds on the mammoth was a few seconds not grinding on minions.

On a side note, during the 44 minutes it took me to get the 200 ears, I also looted 56 frostweave cloth, 3 green items, and one blue BoE ring. I didn't keep track of how much coin was looted. I also did not keep track of how many minions I killed, although I would estimate it at somewhere around 200 as well. I don't see drop rate info for the ears, but it seemed like an average of one ear per minion. Some had none, some had one, and some had two. I think it averaged out to about one per minion, as I said, but again, I wasn't keeping tabs on that data.

From Reverd to Exalted u will need 21000 rep and you will need 15 ears for 150 rep, So you will need to turn in in ears ~140 times, And that will be ~2100 ears.

The above comment by Thought is true, using the quest that gives you the Mammoth let's you lay down tons of damage to these mobs very quickly. Your Mammoth will die though and you would have to get another one. I have found that at level 80, with gear around item level 200, you can farm these mobs easily. I'm a hunter and can have my pet round up all of them around Kaw pretty quickly. Then AoE them, rinse & repeat. This basic tactic works wonders!...

At one point I had a healer guildie come with me to help farm, I stayed on the quest where you get the Mammoth and she healed the Mammoth and myself as I stomped the mobs to death... She was able to pickup all the ears as I was killing them. Even with two people doing this double team tactic, I found that it's still about the same rate as if you farmed by yourself.

All in all, straight up grinding these mobs that drop the ears is the best way to go from Revered to Exalted. I was unfortunate enough to not follow the steps to get to Revered easily while in Outland, so I am stuck grinding this until I get my mount from them.

The best places I have seen to farm these is the Minions of Kaw at 54, 24; and the lake with the divers at about 51, 44 (Lake Kum'uya). In both places, there are mobs that drop these that are bunched up together and if you are level 80 they take maybe 3 seconds each to kill and you can AoE them down as well.

Easy to farm, most of the humanoids in the two aforementioned locations drop at least one ear, they drop greys/whites that sell well to a vendor, and they drop alot of greens too, so farming the people at the Lake and around where Kaw is is not only good for reputation but profitable at the same time.

As stated before, the quest Kaw the Mammoth Destroyer helps with the farming around 54, 24.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe these weren't always BoE. I was looking for some on the Trade chat and got bitten hard for not knowing. This stuff tends to happen when you take a 6-month break I guess.

At level 72 im only getting about 110 exp from the minions of kaw but i was getting 1k from the divers. Something to keep in mind if your getting rep while leveling.

No one so far has mentioned where the DEHTA camp is located so that you can turn these in. I spent awhile looking for it as it is not listed on the in-game map.

If you look at the in-game map you will see Valiance Keep. Now look straight north and you will see the intersection of three roads. This is where the camp is located. For those with coords it is at 56, 43.

Now this is a place where the NPC's are concerned about the ethical treatment of animals. So I'm sure everyone knows (or can imagine) what is going to happen to you if you go there right after killing one, right? This is kind of odd actually, because one of the NPC's in the camp gives you the quest "Ned, Lord of the Rhinos," in which you are asked to kill a rhino and its rider.

Anyway, at the camp, Arch Druid Lathorius offers you the quest "Ears of Our Enemies," in which you are asked to bring him 15 of the ears. You will get the buff others have mentioned, some gold and, if eligible to receive it, some XP. Its a repeatable quest.

As the above posts have mentioned. As of 11/9/11 Minions of Kaw have an amazingly fast respawn rate. In 20 minutes (timed), just using an 85 hunter walking in circles around Kaw the Mammoth Destroyer, this is what dropped (i did not record silver dropped)

36 Frostweave Cloth
1 Green Armor

I swear every lap I made seemed to increase the spawn rate to a certain point. I'd be killing one mob and another, then another would spring up. I haven't done any other area but this one is really good. In fact, it's so quick and easy to kill that it's hard to stop. All the while I kept singing, "the wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round..."

Be wary that ears are soulbound, so farming with an 85 character for lower lvl alt is not an option!

The ears stack in your inventory in groups of 50, and I'd hand the ears in in batches of 45 or 150 to help reduce the travel time back and forth from the D.E.H.T.A site as well as giving you good time to take a quick break. I think I've earned at least 200g from the silver drops alone, and easily 400g from selling off the Frostweave mats at the AH (though this depends on your server of course). If you have the second rank of the 'Mr. Popularity' guild perk gained at guild level 12, the rep points are boosted to 165, though I have no idea if this is higher still for humans, or if the guild perk has anything to to with it and Blizz just increased the rep themselves. Can someone else weigh in for this one?

My tactic as a level 82 mage was to use the minions of Kaw; I'd tag every mob within reach with Living Bomb, then hit the crowd with Blizzard, taking literally seconds to kill off sometimes seven at a time. Be careful using Blizzard around the mammoths though.

Minions of Kaw are excellent for rep farming; they respawn very quickly, drop a lot of ears, and are not far from the turn-in.

EDIT: I also had good luck with the loot crazed divers in the lake closest to the DEHTA camp, but Kaw is much faster.
