Anima di Lupo Volenterosa is part of The Binding Ritual.

Roaming around Gorgoa, the River of Souls, you can find a Stray Soul. This wolf soul will follow the flow of the river and despawn on the northern end, respawning at the southern end shortly after and beginning his path over again. To obtain his item, simply find, approach the wolf and interact with it. The wolf will enter your Soulkeeper and grant you a Anima di Lupo Volenterosa.

When catching the soul today, I've noticed the Stray Soul can be seen on minimap the same way (same icon) as the souls for the weekly covenant quest (Return Lost Souls).

At this point I already had Crumbling Stele as well as Codice Runico Intatto in bag, not sure if it is needed for the icon to appear or not.

Pre-requisites: Be Appreciated by Ve'nari, have 3,500 Stygia, have learned Animated Levitating Chain. Helpful: Words of Warding is active because of Assassin's Soulcloak

Buy Stygia Dowser for 1,500 Stygia
Go to Domination Keep in Perdition Hold (approx at 23.0, 68.4), and grapple up 1 level. Go to the left, and go up the stairs to a second hook at about 24.0, 75.5.
Use your extra action button and solve the Rune Puzzle to get Crumbling Stele by making the runes above the chest match the runes on the spikes. Spike #1 was to your left grappling up and goes clockwise. You have limited attempts before being locked out for two hours. If this happens, use the time to farm
Return to Ve'nari and buy Partial Rune Codex for 2,000 Stygia.
Retrieve Rune Codex Page: Forging from the cave in the Beast Warrens located at 48.8, 84.7. The page is in the back left.
Retrieve Rune Codex Page: Souls from Perdition Hold located at 27.2, 72.3.
Retrieve Rune Codex Page: Binding from Tremaculum at 24.6,12.67. The teleport up is at 27.6,17.3.

Pet Stray Soul in the River of souls to get Anima di Lupo Volenterosa. Go against the current and you'll eventually find him.
Kill the rare Soulforger Rhovus to get Soulforger's Tools
Spend the next 2 - 8 hours of your life farming 200 Stygia Dust and 200 Scheggia di Stigia. The Stygia Dowser will allow you to see Stygia Nexus on the minimap. On the ground these look like glowing green orbs. Stand next to one and click on the Stygia Dowser. Only one person can tap a nexus at a time. I recommend not going over eye 2 for this.
Celebrate the end of grinding
Go to Soulsteel Anvil (located at the very top of Domination Keep at 20.2,67.0-You will need to grapple hook up the side) to create 20 Lingotto di Stigia
Create Armored Husk by combining 20 Lingotto di Stigia with Soulforger's Tools
Optional: Take the Chaotic Rift to get down (it takes you to Zovaal's Cauldron)
Go to the Binding alter at 45.2,48.2 to combine Armored Husk with Anima di Lupo Volenterosa to get Feral Shadehound
Read Crumbling Stele to get the rune order
Use Feral Shadehound to get start Feral Shadehound which starts the binding ritual
Run Feral Shadehound into a cage or pillar to not have to bother with mob agro while you punch in the correct rune order.
This completes Feral Shadehound which gives Bound Shadehound
Learn the mount, brag to guildies/friends

A quick note on farming. When Words of Warding is active, as long as you don't turn it in, you can cloak easily in Perdition Hold, which makes Perdition Hold ideal for farming Stygia Dust and Scheggia di Stigia. It also makes it easier to get Rune Codex Page: Souls as well as get to Go to Soulsteel Anvil.

Another thing I noticed is that when you collect resources from one stygia nexus, another one seems to spawn almost instantly. I think there are two active nexus in each particular sub-zone of the maw. This is why camping a spot doesn't seem to work as the nexus are random. HOWEVER, I think some more more common spawn locations than others. If you are having trouble finding one, I'd check the more rare spots, which for Perdition Hold is at the very very top of Dominion Keep as well as the very southern part where your Assassin's Soulcloak will fall off.

Popped up for me at spawn point, southern part of soul river (around 18 53).

The icon on minimap was the same as the stygia souls have, but it was moving. Model was a big ghost wolf running at regular speed. Gave Willing Wolf Soul upon petting.

For some reason was able to loot this more than once. Is it OK to delete once I have the mount?

I encountered a bug in this "quest" chain: after I looted the Willing Wolf Soul I was no longer able to see the Stygia Nexus nodes or interact with the Soulsteel Anvil. Deleting the Willing Wolf Soul and logging out/in again let me gather the resources once more.
