This fish is part of the first secret fish achievement, Secret Fish of Mechagon.

The fish:
All of the fish for part 1 of this series can be caught within Mechagon. The catch rates are quite low (~1%) so expect to spend a fair amount of time fishing. You do not need max Kul'tiran/Zanadalari fishing. Once caught you'll auto-accept a quest to show the fish to Danielle Anglers, who is also on the island. Should the quest fail to auto-accept for any reason you can simply right click the fish from your inventory to start it.

Note: Below are confirmed locations and are likely not the only locations where they can be caught.

The coastal fish:
These 3 fish can be caught near Danielle, though its likely they can be caught anywhere along the coast of the island.

1. Energized Lightning Cod
2. Solarsprocket Barbel
3. Bolted Steelhead

The area specific fish:
Each of these fish can only be caught within a specific area of the island.

Wanted to confirm that this fish DOES come from the coast. Much like the Steelhead it took a couple days with over 100+ total casts. I got this one right next to Danielle after I moved back down to her and got it within the first 15 casts I tried at that spot.

I was also 175 fishing when I caught it if that helps.

I spent a lot of time farming this last NIGHT with no success. On a hunch I came back today, during the DAY and got it in a couple minutes.

I'm almost positive this is a daytime catch. I'd love confirmation though.

Fished him from the forest pool yesterday and the cave where the shadowy eel is fished today. (these are both at night, just to contradict a different comment here). This is starting to lead me to think it's a rare zone-wide fish.

To summarize, this fish is a rare catch in Mechagon. It can be caught from any fishable water and at any time of the day/night. If you're lucky, you'll pick it up while catching the other location-specific fish, but more likely you'll be fishing for quite a while trying to get it. Good luck everyone!

Fished for a good 3 hours for this fish, 400-500 casts, mainly near Danielle but tried other coastal areas too.
Nothing.
Went back to 47,37 (Forest Pool) and got it on my 4th cast.

Today I tried for almost an hour at coordinates 35, 45, besides the quest turnin and 47, 35 in the Fleeting Forest but nothing.

Tried at 80, 15 while waiting for Crazed Trogg and got it after a couple of casts, does this fish rotate dropplace per day?

Fished for 2+ hours near the fishing questgiver in western spray. After the comments here, moved around and got him at the first throw near the horde flight point. Seems that either he can be fished everywhere at a very rare rate, or its location moves around ever day.

i caught every other type of rare fish pretty easily. this one was not easy for me. it took me about a thousand casts, and many hours. maybe i am just unlucky though. some relevant info:

it can be caught while in a raid group. i was in one when i caught mine.
it can be caught at night. i caught mine at 851pm server time.
it was caught in the pool where the foul manifestation rare spawns, in the heaps. not a coastal location.
i only had a fishing pole equipped. only plus 5 fishing on it. no other fishing gear or fishing skill bonuses at all. max level base fishing otherwise of course.
warmode was OFF. this may be notable because the majority of my fishing was done with warmode ON, and i never caught it with warmode on. that could easily be pure coincidence though.
i believe i did have a scarlet herring lure active when i caught it. i dont think this helps, i'm just mentioning it to confirm that it doesnt prohibit the catch. go ahead and try to get more midnight salmon imo.
i caught the fish secondary to a spare parts catch. not an actual fish. i don't think this matters, just mentioning it.
i caught every single other rare fish prior to this one for two days straight. i gave up the day before after hundreds of attempts. and trying multiple locations.
ultimately, i dont think it matters where you fish to catch the 3 zone wide fish, including this one.

if i think of anything else, i will edit this post. thank you. i hope this helped. i wished i had some of this info when i started my journey.

edit - i think warmode might be a factor. my first 700 or 800 casts were with warmode ON. after i turned warmode OFF, i got it after about 200 casts. my guildmate just experienced something similar. he got it after about 200 casts with warmode off. of course this could be coincidence/anecdotal, or maybe they fixed a bug recently. but every bit of intel helps, in my opinion. i suggest doing this with warmode OFF, if you want to be safe from this potential bug/rng.

Was getting quite frustrated with the drop rate of this after being stuck on 9/10 for the achievement but finally caught it near the quest turn in with most of the other fish in my inventory after about 40-50 casts..

After 3 hours of nothing I decided to take a break. I logged out to main screen, then came back an hour later, equipped the Powered Piscine Procurement pole (I was previously fishing with the Underlight Angler), and I got this fish and the Bolted Steelhead in under 5 minutes at 36.90, 46.42 right behind Danielle, fishing from the shore.

Ok, I think I have the explanation why people have such trouble with this one. And it seems to fit most of the problems people had with it from the comments. Solarsprocket Barbel is a zone drop, it drops numerous places in Mechagon, if not everywhere. So, I was following the map going to each location fishing until I caught a rare fish, then moved on. What I didn't realize is at one of the spots I didn't catch the fish I was there for, but the Barbel. So at the end I ended up on the coast trying to fish up the Barbel for ages, then I figured it out. I had caught it at the Spitting Clownfish spot. So then I just had to go back to the Spitting Clownfish spot again to get my last fish for the day.

I have a feeling this fish changes location every day. Just today it was the fourth secret fish I fished up and the first one I fished up on the coast instead of it being the last fish I ever fish up for every day.

If this is true then today's date 8/10/19 the fish is near Danielle Anglers.

Seems this one might be fished ANYWHERE in the Island, and, as others have pointed out, it seems the G-Spot rotates each day. Today, US-Goldrinn 23/03/2020, after daily reset. I fished it up at Toothy Shallows (35.97, 63.75), after less than 10 casts, which is the limit I decided to try in each area, after a long time trying ONLY on the 3 spots mentioned here, 80,15, 47.37 and right next to the NPC.

If you wanna try to get this ASAP, I, instead, recommend you to check this page's map, for the spots, and ROTATE each area, after X casts. The X-factor to me was 10, after 10 casts I moved to another spot, and got it at the above one.

I managed to get all other fish within 2 hours and spent the next 3 hours trying to get this one. Tried many different locations but I finally got it near Scrapbone Den at /way 55.31, 31.49 fishing ontop of the rock, away from adds.

After trying absolutely every single suggestion from this comment section with no success, I came back to the first spot (near Daniella) and finally got it (around 1340 casts).
I tried all the zones, I tried with and without War Mode (as a comment suggested). I tried the X casts in each spot, etc etc.
In the end I just think that the drop rate is abysmal and any scheme is mere coincidence.
Good luck on this one.
I still recommend trying all the suggestions here: it allows you to keep a bit of sanity.

Caught mine 40 90 after fishing all around the island (I was doing all other fishes, and some other dropped me TWICE).. So I confirm it does rotate.

This fish refused to drop after 9 hours of trying different locations.
Got on my druid to cook some stuff and needed fish so I just went fishing. 2nd cast I got it.
The last time I fished for it was during night time.
So I got back on my main and went fishing and got it on my 4th cast.
This leads me to believe that this solar powered fish may indeed be a much more common drop-rate during the daylight hours.

Tried fishing this during the day (4:50pm) and caught it within 10 casts, right next to the hand-in area, judging by the comments it can be caught anywhere on Mechagon.

My attempt to fish this at 2am took over 20 minutes and yielded nothing, where as I caught every other fish within 2 minutes.

Went to go fish up the Pond Hopping Springfish. Caught a quest fish in 5 casts, flew off to the next spot. After half an hour of confusion I found out that it was actually this fish that I nabbed from the pool.

This one took me about 150 casts doing a pattern of fishing for 10 casts in each of the 8 spots that the single location fish can be caught for the Mechagon Secret Fish achievement. I did one lap doing 10 casts at each spot, and then upped it to 20 at each location, and finally caught it at the Pond Hopping Springfish spot.

It's impossible to tell if this fish has a daily hotspot or if it's a just always anywhere on the island, so the best strategy is to do a rotating pattern of fishing until you get it.

I think this fish is only catchable during the day time...

Anecdote: I fished for it over the course of several evenings roughly between 8 PM and 1 AM server time, hundreds of casts, at 47,37 Fleeting Forest Pool. It was my last fish to catch for the goggles. Logged in today and cast at 5:24 PM server time, and caught one on my 5th cast... I hope this helps others on the brink of frustration!

Okay listen, there is a sprocket in the sun at the top of the waterfall at 65.70, 63.60
After not catching it for 3 days, last fish needed. I stood dead center of it and cast into the top of the waterfall and got it on the FIRST cast. I swear this is just too specific to be coincidence. Everything else is in a themed location based on the fishes' name. I bet there are other spots that meet this description, explaining it's status as a zone-wide catch.

Finally caught this one today at 78.5, 41.5 - the Alliance flight path area. I was standing next to the broken down plane and was fishing into the 3 floating crates in the water. About 15-20 casts for me here around 1:15pm local time.

This one took me a long while to find. I tried all the different suggestions on here. Fished during day and night. This is the first time I tried the Alliance flight point cove - figured might as well since the wowhead map shows some catches, and it worked! Good luck :)

Reconfirming 37,46 for Barbel. Third fish after recatching the cod (two turn ins). So it is possible to recatch quest fish already turned in once.
