Heartbreaker will give you more runic over the encounter period however if your group is needing single target DPS at any moment Blooddrinker will serve this purpose better

Use your grips to get adds inside the Custody of the Deep bubble to help break it

Be particularly aware of the time your raid will trigger Umbral Shell, as this makes you immune to all healing (including self-healing) while it is up. Consider asking for externals during this time. Life Cocoon should be able to bypass this as it did on Rastakhan.

Due to the reactive nature of your toolkit, you also need to be mindful of Storm of Annihilation. As this is based on health percentage, and the cutoff is so close relative to Will of the Necropolis, you will need to be particularly mindful of what will happen during this time in order not to die.

As Storm of Annihilation is a ~600k hit every second rather than being massive damage, it will keep ticking while purgatory is active. In addition to this, as it is classified as environmental damage, none of it factors into Death Strike calculations. As such, Purgatory only buys you 3 seconds of extra life, and it is highly unlikely you will be able to be brought out of it.

Mythic IBF can potentially be used to negate the stun from the Oceanic Essence

Only use the trident at points where you are able to get full value on the absorb else you may kill your raid

Crucible of Storms Gear

Mindthief's Eldritch Clasp provides a very useful immediate heal in exchange for a DoT, giving you time to recuperate. Unlike other Crucible gear, the secondary stat budget is only slightly lower (80% secondary stat budget) so the trade off is very minimal and worth taking if you are able. It’s essentially a belt with a built in defensive benefit.

Trident of Deep Ocean has no secondary stats, but provides a shield and can stack up higher amounts of Strength (when stacked to 3) in exchange.

Lurker's Insidious Gift provides a large mastery buff, but the stacking DoT can easily kill an unprepared player trying to game the full duration. Because the DoT ramps, it's most deadly toward the end of the buff, therefore there are two major ways to handle it - preplanned cooldowns and external healing, or simply cancelling the trinket effect a few seconds early to avoid the majority of its back loaded damage.

Legplates of Unbound Anguish can increase your DPS with little risk, as the low damage is unlikely to ever be life threatening, but has no real defensive value for a tank. Do note that you need to be using a DPS loot spec to loot them.

Abyssal Speaker's Gauntlets is unfortunately tied to maintaining a fairly small shield. Although other absorption mechanics such as Resounding Protection take precedence, virtually any tank damage will easily eat through the shield and remove the buff.
