Wowhead Update failing
Return to board index
It gets to 'Updating Wowhead_looter.xml and then pops up the nice, helpful, message "Could not update a file. Please try again later."
I tried deleting the +Wowhead_looter folder, it was recreated with only +Wowhead_looter.toc and Wowhead_looter.lua - so it's not permissions.
I tried downloading the stand alone client again, no change.
I tried running as an administrator user (using Run As)

It's updating fine here. Tried reinstalling it?
download the Installation program and reinstall it.
We interrupt this transmission for a quick message...
One possibility is that maybe there is a problem with where the Client is storing it's temporary files.
What are these temporary files, their names, etc? Maybe I need to do a bit of a cleanout of the temp area that is used? Could this also lead to 'Incomplete Download' errors I have read about elsewhere?
Resuming our original transmission...
As stated in the original post, I tried downloading again.
I use the stand alone version.
As I deleted the +Wowhead_looter folder, that eliminates security as an issue ( I run as a Limited User - I have no need for admin privs, not that I can't use them if I want to).
I would simply download the addon manually, but I failed to find a link for the addon, it seems to have to be created by the client program (which is failing).
Any further suggestions?

Bug fixed. You may try again!
Confirmed. Problem has gone away.
(no change in config from yesterday, but it is working today)
