A good tank and healer will do it most of the time.
Good players tend to stick with other good players, therefore, if the tank and healer are good, then it's usually an indication of the rest of the guild.

I look for intelligent people with a sense of humor, who don't mind helping each other out. I don't want to be in another "soloing guild" as Phaetel put it, because what's the fun in having a guild if they never do anything with you outside of the weekly raid?

- Consistency, whether it be with 5-mans, 10-mans, 25-mans, helping out, being online consistently (not 24/7, just online on a regular time frame).
- Respect for players/members as people.
- Good chat/conversation, whether it be in guild chat, party chat, or Vent.
- No drama, or at least, not much, and hopefully not involving me.
- Skill level.

First and foremost, I look for a good atmosphere. Any guild that has rules on what can and cannot be said in /g is right out. I want a guild that, were they RL friends, I could have my parents over and have a good time. My parents like to mess with people and have really dark senses of humor. I've also never seen a guild that censors /g and has some idiotic "code of conduct"
and
was capable of organizing anything better than a karazhan raid. The officers are too busy making sure the guild members are being good little disney characters and fellating each other over how great they are to figure out why they keep wiping on grobbulus.
#2 is drive. I want a guild that wants to advance with the content as it comes out. I don't want my guild to hang back and farm naxx until everyone else has hashed out what to do, how to do it, where to stand, when to pop cooldowns, etc etc. I want a guild that will try to be the ones developing the strategies everyone else uses. Even if they don't and progression is slow for a while until SK Gaming posts a strat, I want to know that my 24 compatriots have a little ambition.
#3, and a very close 3, is that I want a guild that will actually help each other be better, rather than just "your dps was too low last week, we're booting you out." I'm currently in a guild that fulfills 1 and 2 a hundred times over, but doesn't bring me to raids because I only pull 3400dps on my lock, in my heroic/2pcT7 gear. I am contemplating leaving at this point. Nothing was said to me, nothing will be said; I was #7 out of 25, so when I actually get an invite, I'm shunted off to group 6. It's crap.

What I look for in a guild.
1. Friendly people that accept different characteristics (as long as they don't cause unwanted drama).
2. Good players, so we don't have to spend five hours explaining that fire is hot.
3. A willingness to sacrifice a few hours to learn something new.
Nr. 1 is the top 1 priority. 2 and 3 usually come hand in hand with maturity.
