I'm wondering how that is, unless you bought every last piece of gear with hit that could be made, and used a LOT of cloth instead of mail.
Like armor class is really relevant to a caster class. If I pull aggro and get a mob on me, the only thing that will save me is a healer, not the little extra armor from mail.
Sure I stacked hit, but as far as I am concerned, it's the most important stat. Missing a LvBs, a few LBs and a Flame Shock will have far greater of an effect than say the 200 spell damage all round, extra crits and haste you get from not taking inferior gear with hit rating.
Here is the gear that I had on in that set-up, along with the
20 hit glove enchant which I cannot add to the item comparison tool. Bear in mind that socketed, the Ring of Northern Tears adds 4 hit rating, bringing me to a total of 374 hit rating, 6 above that required for a horde elemental shaman. Sure, a good portion of it is cloth, but if you neglect items because they are cloth, you really shouldnt talk about gearing an elemental shaman. Also, notice that they dont have any spirit- nifty, eh? No wasted stats. And had I really wanted to continue with it( I have since switched to enhancement), there are a few upgrades that I could get from the heroism quarter master, and probally a few from heroics.
I have nothing against wearing cloth, but many of the people I've played with have yelled at me because I wanted to roll on a cloth item. Not a single person listens to the fact that there is no such thing as mail spell gear with hit, other than tier gear. I have an elemental set (Which I use) and an enhancement set, the enhancement set was far easier to get, at least for me. Most of the other shamans I've talked to have said they found elemental harder to reach the hit cap for as well.
