Hm, wierd, I NEVER Tab target unless I absolutely have to, I find it hardly ever works for me (maybe its just my keyboard, but I have to press tab at least twice, and HARD, before it actually switches the target. I find I can hold threat just by using TC and Shockwave. I sometimes struggle a bit when playing with a well-geared AoE class, but not too much.
The Tab key is also pretty random, it sometimes selects targets that your not even engaged with and that can be dangerous, though not so much for a warrior.

Whoa necro'ed thread.
I've changed my stance on warrior aoe tanking. Compared to a paladin, it just isn't even close. I didn't have many aoe aggro issues with the warrior in heroics. On raids, I would sometimes lose aggro to the other tank classes. Now that I've tanked with my paladin, it's just another ballgame.
Maintaining such solid aggro WHILE pulling 3k dps in starter tank gear isn't something to scoff at. With my warrior, I could hold aggro with aoe dps opening up after my initial pull. With my paladin, I can hold concrete aggro on packs and packs of mobs even if aoe dps pulled before I did. We had to queue up cleave on each attack. Paladins have an INNATE (passive) cleave build into their
