There is a

So my first thought:
Val'anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings
Torch of Holy Fire

It's a good mace and clearly a upgrade... But it feels like a "normal" epic to epic upgrade. With one extra bonus. The bonus doesn't make it legendary enough! Hmph.
I stick with my
one handed staff
.

Let's see here...
+67 sp
+16 stamina
+5 intellect
+47 crit
-2 haste
+chance on spell cast to create a shield absorbing 15% the amount healed for 15s
I'm going to have to say that's more than a small upgrade...especially for disc, hehe. Plus, we also get a 9.9 dps upgrade on the mace!

+67 sp
+16 stamina
+5 intellect
+47 crit
-2 haste
- some useless mp5
+chance on spell cast to create a shield absorbing 15% the amount healed for 15s

Fixed btw
I didn't say it was a small upgrade, but just the general epic to epic one. Like going from Vasjh mace to the Illidan mace. Or the from the karazhan one to Vasjh. Or any epic healing mace from a last boss to any other epic healing mace from a last boss in a tier higher.
Basically this feels like the mace Yoggy should drop
Hey wait a minute.
I hate you blizzard.
Edit: The only reason it seems legendary is it's proc. Is it really a permanent(for it's duration) shield? Or just a absorb shield? ^^

Extrapolating from the
Staff
, if a one-handed dagger or mace exists at the equivalent item level, it will be just as powerful apart from the proc.
I guarantee, though, that we will see an ilvl239 sword, and no equivalent mace or dagger.
I wish we had a
Guiding Star
to show the epic healing mace. Owh well, ilvl 232 is close.

Lol, Val'anyr sells for 35 golds
"Hey, Mr Innkeeper, this is your lucky day!"
"Ow rlly, why?"
"Have you heard about Val'anyr, Hammer of the Ancient Kings, one of the most covered in legends weapon of the whole Azeroth?"
"Yh, I heard something..."
"Well, it's ur lucky day! I, Mr <Hardcore Healer Name Here> want to sell this Hammer to you! Of course, it took loads of effort to do all the raids and it took the combined effort of 25 people to assault Ulduar for months in order to get it, but it's finally here! Some say this is unpriced, but, so, between mateys, how much would you give for it?"
"Umm... 35 gold?"
"Great... now I can buy a glyph for respecc, yeey...!"
Sounds a lot like
Atiesh
.
Silly vendors. They are buying cheap legendary to rule the world when we sold enough.

Edit: The only reason it seems legendary is it's proc. Is it really a permanent(for it's duration) shield? Or just a absorb shield? ^^
I would asume the shield is just like any priest shield. Absorbs damage after armor and other talents that reduce damage are applied. I find this proc would be perfect for discipline priests, as our entire goal is to mitgate damage via shields.
Still, I get where your coming from. Without the proc, it isn't a huge upgrade. If your looking at one's stats, you won't see much of a difference whether or not they have the mace. The real diffence will come in when all your heals have a potential of being worth 15% more.

Yeah I misread the proc a bit. It gives a chance to give a buff. And that buffs makes all heals cast on target also apply a shield for 15% of the healing or so. So basically there is a chance that your healing will be increased by 15%(optimal) for 15 seconds or so, without the extra healing being overhealing.
Sound good, but I had the idea that the ultimate caster legendary is based on a low chance proc. Unless..
I don't see why it would be surprising if the same is true of the mace. The proc is 15 seconds of 15% more healing that can't overheal (For almost any difficult encounter, you can virtually be assured the shield will be consumed before it wears off). That is quite a bit.
The proc is probably better than you guys are assuming (even for druids). I'm not going to spoil it though. :)
And thats a response to the 15% extra healing idea.
So maybe... the proc stacks with itselfs. Maybe other healers benefit from the buff too. Maybe Ghostcrawler is %^&*ing our minds. Maybe there is a hidden extra (It got pulled off armory again).
Maybe I say maybe enough, maybe not.
We are entering the speculation zone again. Damned, still weeks to go to the first mace.

-2%crit
+33spellpower for a whole group.
I will have to agree with you, Elrael. I wish i didn't, but i have to. Of course it is a superdooper major upgrade from Turning Tide/Holy fire... but it also has a lot more Ilvl. If we compare two same-leveled, or similarly leveled, items, this mace seems meh. Really, in terms of item points, i see a very small difference between Val'anyr and a common epic... /sigh.

I disagree. We already have shields and what not. This is a pure aoe healers weapon. CoH, PoM New Renew, PoH
All those spells will give a shield. It is much better for aoe than single target.

well I just assume that it basically will be a
Divine Aegis
type proc making a shield like DA would

Weapon description clearly states that the blessing benefits YOU (the one with that phatty mace) so other healers won't be able to benefit from it.

I'd rather pass that to a holy pld.

are you serious? You are a far better man than I am then. TBH, a holy priest would get at least 5x more out of it than a holy paladin. AOE Heals popping bubbles all over the place on your raid? Tell me that won't be an incredible sight.

Ethix
Oh my. Kind of glad we haven't had a fragment drop yet.
I did not think that I could put shields on more than one person. Omg that would be amazing...

The mace itself is clearly nothing special and we'll see better stats on weapons soon enough, but the proc is truly intriging. It's worded a little strange and in a way that seperates it from similar effects. What if it actually expands the health pool like for example
Survival Instincts
?
The proc gives a chance to give a buff. That buffs makes your heals cast on that target also apply a shield for 15% of the healing done.
So basically there is a chance that your healing will be increased by 15%(optimal) for 15 seconds on the affected targets, without the extra healing being overhealing.
The buff is
a bit
like
Divine Aegis
.
