The idol should have an internal cooldown like most of those items, probably 45 sec.

thing is, some fights just suit other healers more than you.
The idol is pretty good yeh but Holy Priests get a lot of buffs to there spells in talents

I am a firm believer in meter being useless..I play a holy priest and could care less about the meters but as soon as I sign on I get 20 different tells to come heal 25 man ToC and as soon as I come in the tanks tell me they notice the huge difference and sometimes I am at the bottom of the meters because im casting renews on the raid to help the raid healers while spaming heals on the tank but since i never cast my PoH or CoH my HPS is low but like the poster above said we are supposed to keep the raid alive who cares who has the highest HPS now DPS meters are a different story...when im on my Lock I know i had better be breaking 5500 min (Undergeared Alt) or be getting ready to get booted..healing meters and DPS meters are not alike in the least bit because healing meters dont matter and dps meters do.
wall of text crits you for 50k
space it out :P
Healing meters should be used to see what spells you are using and if you are using them efficiently. They should be for you and your RL's or CL's research. I found out that, even tho a druid was glyphed for WG, it was 4th on his list of healing done. Which means something is wrong. That's where it comes in handy

It's more of a "who cares" type of scenario. Yes they will have more spell power but it doesn't mean anything if they can't heal. People who are on the meters (or judge by meters only) really show they have no idea how to play a healer. I tell this to other healers and its true. It doesn't matter what the meters say, as long as the job gets done.
This is true, and example i tested it on myself.
We was running 25 man VOA, good group 1 wipe 5 healers 2 tanks and all great dps.
Basically, we had 2 healers on MT 1 Healer on OT and the other on raid, i dont remember the exact healers but i kno it was a pally, druid me (priest) and something else.
Anyway i wasnt losing mana cause of all these buffs so i decided to just spam heals on anyone and evryone although my job was to help heal MT. The pally was doing great by himself, he came out 4th on healing charts i came out 1st.
My point is he healed the MT by himself and came out 4th while i wasnt even doing my job and i was 1st. The people i healed was never really taken dmg i just healed them for no reason.
Charts don't say the facts, they basically say what the "eye" can see i guess.

Everyone's already said it, but I'm going to say it again: the healing meters are not the be-all-end-all of a healer's success. Ask a Disco.
Thing is, I actually will, after a night of raiding, go through my meter and do all of the math, and theoretically come up with the amount of healing I REALLY did, including mitigation. *
The thing is, a raid healer, in a fight with AOE damage, will (duh) come up on top of the MT healer. But if that MT healer blinks, the MT dies. And the raid wipes.
And just because one MT/OT healer is doing better than another is nothing to talk about, either. Some tanks take more damage because they aren't as well geared. Some take very little damage in comparison.
If the raid doesn't wipe, and you get purpz, then the healers did their job. Period.
* For those wondering: It's a ballpark number. Take all your critical heals that can cause Divine Aegis, add it up, and multiply it by 0.3 That's the amount (that could have been) absorbed by Divine Aegis. Take your PW:S heals (assuming you have the glyph) and multiply it by 5, and there's your PW:S mitigation. Add all of that to your total healing done, and enjoy as you launch up the meter.
EDIT:
You constantly have overhealing. If I flash heal and it crits for 6k but the tank only need 1k, that's 5k wasted. A DPS can't "over damage" a target, 8k damage is still 8k damage.
Most meters, such as Recount, will also show total overhealing done. It's hilarious to see two Paladins in a raid, and one top the Healing Done meter while being the lowest as far as Overhealing, while the other Paladin is the exact opposite.
