FF8 is obvious: Edea ends up in the stable time loop, forced to become the vessel of Ultimecia...plus you know, that thing with Squall wandering the Time Compressed land; sure he makes it out, but the despair is heart wrenching the first time you see.
And KH is the fact that Sora still can't be with Kairi and Riku, and he had just watched both Riku and the King seal themselves in the realm of darkness....and then Chain of Memories happens.

I dunno, I guess mileages may vary and all that, but for me that was more scary than sad. Specially that bit where squall has no face. But he does make it out and he and his friends live happily ever after. I still don't get why Seifer got a happy ending though, he wasn't much of a sympathetic character to me, but whatever.
And while Edea ends up being the vessel of ultimecia, things work out well for her don't they? she gets freed of her powers and can live happily ever after with her husband
Robin Williams
errr I mean Cid.
And KH is the fact that Sora still can't be with Kairi and Riku, and he had just watched both Riku and the King seal themselves in the realm of darkness....and then Chain of Memories happens.
I dunno, the game ends with them running happily across a meadow following pluto who apparently knows where the king is.

Yeah too bad that meadow led up to Castle Oblivion, which is up there with 358/2 Days over how much of a mind @#$% happens to Sora....but still has nothing on Birth By Sleep.

The bit at the end of KH when Sora has to let go of Kairi. That's sad.
I never said the ending of 8, I just said 8, in general is sad.

5. Golden Sun: The Lost Age
(post-Final Boss scenes, though they pulled bait and switches)
Because, yaknow, killing your own parents without even realizing it can be pretty traumatic. To be honest, though it only made me a little sad since I kind of expected the bait and switch.
4. Phoenix Wright: Justice For All
(Case 4)
Because the miracle never happen. Massive spoiler alert.
3. Fire Emblem Awakening
(Chapter 21: Five Gemstones, S Support "special dialogues")
The romance version of the post-chapter dialogue here literally reminds me of a certain trade of words between two of my favorite characters from a specific set of novels. I have yet to see the "other" version of the altered dialogue. The one I did look at was pretty heart-wrenching though.
2. KH 358/2 Days
(Ending Scenes)
This hit me right in the @#$%ing feels. Too much spoiling to go any further. Also, ice cream.
1. Fire Emblem Awakening
(Chapter 9: Emmeryn and Chapter 10: Renewal)
This is by far the saddest thing I've seen in a game that I've played. I'm not even going to spoil it but what happens at the end of Chapter 9 being so perfectly followed up on Chapter 10 was fantastic at setting up for melancholy. The music was perfect, the atmosphere was perfect (it's raining, obviously), and they successfully managed to make me sympathize with some random chapter end-boss.

Ok I've neglected this thread of a while, U_U again I'm sorry about that. Hectic week, apparently this teaching job is a little harder and more demanding than initially expected.
But lets continue this series of Videogame Emotions.
#364: Videogame Emotions. Volume 4: Shock.
Today's question is about PLOT TWISTS!!!!!
Name your top videogame moments that genuinely shocked you a plot twist that you just didn't see whatsoever, it came the frick out of nowhere and hit you like a sack of bricks right on the head.
Minimum is 3, max is 5.

Shadow Hearts 2: Covenant....just, you spend a majority of the game hunting Rasputin(yes, that Rasputin) and Nicolai and the then the real bad guy appears...and it's a complete and utter shock.
Digimon Card Battle: You take down the last boss, think you've won the game...and out comes Analogmon from the first game, ready to kick your ass.
Final Fantasy XII: The ultimate reveal of just who is behind the visions that both Vaan and Ashe see all through out the game, and who the ultimate enemy really was.
Final Fantasy Dissidia: Just...every thing that has to do with Chaos...dear god.
Edit: Lol, I got post 666.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood.
Nobody saw that *!@# coming. If you've played it, you know exactly what I'm talking about.
Also, Aizen in Bleach. I guess he was a little creepy, but I did not expect that.

Nothing. I can tell all plot twists by foreshadowing. I'm supersmurt.
This is how I am after watching a lot of TV shows. Nothing really shocks me anymore. A lot of the time I can see it coming.

Bastion. Just all of it.

Oh and for a over all thing: The main 'shock' of Kingdom Hearts.
The fact that pretty much everything is the fault of Xehanort, and he just won't stay dead.

My turn.
Biggest plot twists in games for me have been:
Assassin's Creed 3.
Connor's Father has been a templar all along. That was a bucket of cold water that came right out of nowhere. I actually liked this character FAR MORE than the super-boring Connor.
Mass Effect 3: Citadel.
The main antagonist of this game is..... you :P Your clone to be precise. Also, Annalist Brooke isn't really working for the alliance. This is the reason why I feel the boss on this DLC is the best boss in the whole damn franchise. Outclassing even Tela and the Shadow Broker whom I previously considered the best.
Knights of the Old Republic:
YOU HAVE BEEN REVAN ALL ALONG!!!!!!! O_O
Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Viktor Reznov, the guy who is basically your best friend, your buddy, your mentor, yeah he's been dead all along, he never survived the escape from prison, you've been talking to a hallucination. (To be honest though the devs did a great job at hiding this one and there's a lot of foreshadowing that he's not really there if you know where to look)
Jade Empire:
The mother of all the shockers for me however was in Jade Empire. So you've done this highly typical bioware adventure, you've defeated Death's hand, destroyed his fortress of assassins, invaded the Palace, confronted the Emperor, confessed your love to your romantic interest, rescued your master, and defeated the bad guys. Congratulations.
Then your master kills you.
wait what? o_O

#365 Videogame Emotions Final Volume: Moments of Awesomeness
So this is the last one of this series of questions, The moment of Awesome.
Name your videogame moments that have had you throw your arms up in the air at the sheer concentrated levels of awesomeness as you yell
THAT WAS FRIKKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In other words, list your most impressive moments that inspired pure admiration and fist-pumping on you.
Name 3 to 5 games, and then anywhere from 1 to 10 moments of awesome in those particular games.

Loved this, along with the end of Assassin's Creed 2 where Minerva reveals that she was speaking to Desmond the whole time.

Samus taking off her suit in Metroid
Entering Rapture for the first time at the beginning of Bioshock

The beginning of Mass Effect 2 when Sheppard "dies"
Wait what?
I know mileages may vary and all, but that's more like a plot twist. A shocking revelation. Not something awesome, or awe-inspiring. You're seeing the ship you spent most of your time in the first game, as well as a protagonist you've come to love, all go away in one stroke. Sad, shocking, unexpected, but not awesome o_O
Post by
Hyperspacerebel
Heroically fighting your way through a ship that is about to fall apart at any moment, saving two of your best friends and getting jettisoned into space out of an exploding ship? That's pretty damn awesome in my book.

Moments of "awe" aren't just awesome moments. I think you lack of knowledge on the English language is hindering you some rakk.
When you say "awe" moments, people tend to think "Wow, that really happened". It seems more like a catchall for what you already mentioned. It can be sad or awesome, or be something completely unexpected.

Very true. I'll reword the question.
