Ok few things wrong with that statement. Holy and Ret are both viable, the argument would be "Why isn't protection PvP viable (correct me if it actually is viable) Or that Warrior's Arms and Fury are both viable, so why cant Protection be viable. And the reason that all 3 can't be viable is because when you start to buff up 1 tree, it can cause many other tree's to become over powered, not only in PvP but PvE as well. I know the idea of buffing Demo sounds like a quick and easy task, but it's really quite complicated and would result in even more tweaking as it indirectly affects other jobs in the game.
As I said, Destro and Afflic are both viable, and Blizzards stand on it, which I would agree, is that buffing up demo really is not a concern. It requires much more work to fix something that in many ways doesn't require fixing.
FYI: Protection healadins are some of the best arena healers out there. Protection warriors are nigh unkillable with a good healer.
Try again.

The problem with Demo is that people keep expecting it to be pvp viable. Demo is already very strong for PvE so any changes would strictly be for PvP purposes. But the question is: Why should it be PvP viable? Afflic and Destro already fill the gaps.
Why shouldn't it be? If holy is pvp viable for paladins, does that mean that retribution shouldnt be? I see no reason why all three can't be viable.
It's not that is shouldn't be viable per say, but in all fairness A LOT of classes have specs which aren't really viable in pvp, yes you COULD run them but they aren't viable when you look at the numbers, and blizzard has made the statement MANY MANY MANY times that if you have one viable PVP spec don't hold your breath for buffs to make aditional spwec viable, its just not a big enough fish to fry. We have two viable pvp specs. Coun't your blessings.

Zora, my point still stands that there's no real reason to buff up demo for pvp. And hey, I'm sure nigh unkillable warrior is still unkillable with a dead healer... should try targeting them first...
You're missing the point. Every class should have every spec be viable for PvP. Not ignoring the other two specs because "they fill in the gaps" or whatever you use to rationalize it.

That's horribly unrealistic.
So we should never try to reach it?

Not things that are unrealistic no. You can wait and hope that one day Blizzard will devote all their time and efforts into making every spec for every class just as viable as the next for pvp but that's not gonna happen. That requires far too much work over far too long a time. I'm all for people trying to achieve challenging goals and blah blah but wasting lots of time, energy, and money on a belief that, quite frankly, isn't even a concern is, well, a waste of lots of time, energy, and money.
You're right, the game does take far too much work. Therefore, Blizzard should stop updates, all classes will forever remain the same as in 3.1.3.
It's an EVOLVING game, saying demonology shouldn't be PvP viable is just silly.
