I work at a boring job for about four hours each night. The job usually only takes three. I am bored and so wanted to start this Pie in the Sky thread.
It is the thought experiment of "could we have a 5 man group of only priests do the 5 man dungeons sucessfully?"
I would like posts of your own group composition and also thoughts on previous posts.
To start off, here is what my bored mind has come up with,
1
disc Priest and 4
shadow priests, but one specced and designated "
tank"
The therory goes that with all four shadow priests specced into improved VE you now have 3 sources of 5% healing as well as one source of 25% healing of dps. We will for the sake of argument assume that the dps for all four Shadow priests is 2500 . This then yeilds 625+3*125=1000hps on the "tank" when dps is running.
Other considerations in the builds were:
The disc and the tank are the only ones that have
imp fort because only one priest will end up casting said spell and the tank can use all the stamina he can get.
The tank is the only one to take
misery This again is because all Spriests can use the buff, but only one needs to actually have it. It also makes sense considering the tank is NOT taking the
threat decrease in the slight glimmer of hope that because he didnt, yet the other shadow priests did, that he will hold aggro.
The general strategy then goes that the disc starts with a shield, pom, renew on the tank. Tank pulls putting up misery, all the other dps follow in to help keep him alive as well as take down the mob. The disc will need to WAIT on using Pain suppresion unless several "crits" happen in a row, while basically still going pell mell on the healing rotation even with the 1000hps on his side. Even considered going with a more GH freindly build for the disc just to see if spamming that inbetween shields can create enough DA procs to save the tank.
Other thoughts NOT taken:
Abandoning VT on all but one or two Spriest, because while yes we dont need 4 replenishments, it is also an essential peice for dps
Abandoning other mana saving talents in the disc or Spriest builds because of the garunteed replenishment...Just cant tell without actually playtesting how far down that slope one can go before you end up OOM on one of the (practically) four healers.
Taking out one of the shadow priests for a holy priest, the firendliest build i can come up with for this condition is
this. It is a truth that what the poor priest tank needs is a lightwell sitting next to him along with a Glyphed Gaurdian spirit....but beyond those two spells and the talented&glyphed renew (adding its hot to the disc hot) this holy priest could either try to outheal the disc with GH's or go for a lol smite therory.....
anyways that is enough from me, in a few days I will post another Idea I had while writting this up.

Paolo, I think really says what i wanted to touch on. The disc priest while yes able to take hits better, can not out threat the dps shadow. It is the same reason why i did not want the holy smite in the group, holy damage is crap.
However since I had a class cancel on me this morning here is a second item for discussion:
HOLY NOVA!
So 1
tank disc priest grouped with 4
Nova cats.
make sure to read there that "these effects cause no threat" Therefore if the "dps" are doing nothing but pumping holy nova, all the disc tank has to do is use his reflective shield, cast penance, and a hasted HF and he should be good on holding the aggro.
The Nova cats have pain suppression so 5 copies can be chained together.
Technically, this is spawned from something I do when bored while healing a heroic as disc. The mana reduction and haste buff from Power infusion work very well with holy nova. Not to mention that nova works well with SoL, and DA to not only protect the fellow nova cats, but also the tank....
lets say that SoL will only proc on one cat at a time, thus we have three copies of 700 healing+ spellpower *20% going every CD on the tank for healing. The tank could then very likely not worry about healing himself and just focus on mind searing or fearing in order to get the group through...
the one great weakness here is....no replenish, thus all of them will need to a)drink after every pull and b)make sure to hit every mana saving SoL proc they get.
