xbows and bows are grouped together, and I see 18
guns
and 16
bows
+
xbows
that are ilvl 200 or higher that aren't crafted or PvP weapons.. pretty even.
Yes, but xbows dont work for the troll racial ability, which is what I assume is the issue.
On a related note, all the gear having hit rating makes my racial pretty useless too. I really liked having a free % in BC, which allowed me more freedom in gear, and the ability to look for other stats. Now it is pretty much just a wasted racial

ToC has 3 Crossbows, 3 Guns and... 1 Bow. From the 10man tribute chest.
1% Hit is useless? I have 3/3 FA and I'm gemming for hit. And no, my gear isn't low, only ToC 10+ or Ulduar hard modes.
Not to mention that it's a party buff.
Heroic presence is the most OP Racial for DPS, don't you dare to call it useless.

There are definitely gear setups that don't include a ton of hit rating. If i drop Twisted Visage for a non-hit rating 2-hander with armor pen like i plan, i will be down to 162 hit.

Oh I know, and I have been pretty lucky so far, but when an upgrade drops, even if it puts me FURTHER over the hitcap, it is still an upgrade--even though I know I could hold out and save my DKP for a equal item level, that will be a bigger upgrade cause no hit, and armor pen or something instead--but I never know when or if it will drop.
I am not trying to QQ, I am just saying I sympathize with the "but my racial doesnt matter in Wrath. . ." feeling.
Edit: I notice you are running at 7% hit, but are a dwarf--I am not trying to critize, I am actually really curious--I see a lot of alliance hunters doing this, but dont you ever get into the situation where you are out of range of a Draenie? So many fights require movement or range, that I see it happening even in my own guild. I was looking at another hunters recount and saw about a 2% miss (he is actually at like 6.78% hit) on some of his shots. And we had 4 or 5 draenie in the raid. In my old guild there were only 2: me and the shaman, and I saw people running at 7% hit.

I see it this way. On BC bows and xbows were the "thing" I remember was kind hard to find a nice dps gun, now Blizz made it up so guns have their spotlight on WotLK

In BC the top Raid Spec was BM. BM was king with a 2.7 speed weapon due to getting your steady shot and your auto shot to match speed. If you raided as MM or SV you wanted the slower, "harder hitting" weapons.
(If I'm remembering BC correctly, been awhile since BM was king)

Oh. I'm definitely against hunters running at 7% and relying on a Draenei to get them to cap.
I've been running 1 pt in Focused Aim as i literally have nothing else useful to spend that point on in my MM spec. I've basically been treating 230 as the hit cap.
I'm going to have to tweak my strategy a bit though because i've started running SV again so the point in FA isn't as valuable as there are other things to spend it on. And then i won
these
last night which is alot of extra hit...

Yes thats true, the only real upgrade for BM that made decent use of the BM 1:1 rotation (before it stopped mattering since autoshots stopped getting clipped) was the Crossbow of Relentless Strikes.
Edit: At least that I had access to anyway, I never ran Sunwell or Tempest Keep
