Are you sure that 1 agi = 2ap? Everywhere else I have read it says that this have been nerfed along time ago and that 1 agi = 1ap now.
And I cannot believe that I have to choose agi over ap in every case! 1 agi is not better than 1000 ap!
I see the confusion.
Look, for a hunter 1 agility gives 1 RaP (ranged attack power).
However, there are a ton of other benefits that come with agil over ap. Crit, better stat scaling, dodge and armor. Also, SV hunters have abilities in the tree which maximize the benefits of agil, not ap.
These benefits are SO great, that 1 agil is actually better than 2 attack power (for SV hunters)--even though "technically" the 1 agil only gives 1 RaP.
You are right, of course, in that 1 agil isnt better than 1000 ap--but the numbers never work out that way. When choosing gems, enchants, gear and SV hunter should always look at 1 agil > 2 AP.
Does this mean 1 agil is better than 10 AP? No, but 1 agil > 2 ap. (And possibly 3 or 4--I am not sure where the break point is).
Simply put, gem for agil, enchant for agil. (Never gem for anything else, except to unlock a meta gem and then use 1 nightmare tear in the blue or yellow socket which will give u the best benefit)
When looking at gear, something with 50 agil and 50 ap is better for you than something with 25 agil and 100 ap, but the numbers can get sticky here, and this is where you should always check femaledwarf.com to make sure you are equipping an actual upgrade. And, of course, intellect, Stamina (as SV), and set bonuses all effect dps as well--so you want to keep that in mind.
I think that sums up what everyone was trying to say.

Step 1) Get the DPS spreadsheet or use the online the version at
www.femaledwarf.com
Step 2) Import your toon
Step 3) Set up your shot rotation
Step 4) Get your EP values
Then you end up with something nice like this:
Attribute DPS Per Item Budget
Agility + 1 1.536 1.536
AP + 1 0.648 1.297
Crit + 1 1.232 1.232
Hunter Hit + 1 1.782 1.782
Pet Hit + 1 0.514 0.514
Int + 1 0.732 0.732
ArP Rating+1 1.516 1.516
Haste + 1 0.561 0.561
Stamina+1 0.000 0.000
Mp5 0.000 0.000
...and then you don't have to worry about confusion and bad advice.
For me 1 pt of Agility is worth (1.536/.648) = 2.370 AP
Or even simpler, just make the gear changes in the spreadsheet and see how they affect your dps.
