Steady focus buff

What is the benefit of keeping that up?
I mean, you fire steady shots to gain focus in order to fire magic shots that are instants.
Does it affect serpent's sting ticks?
Is it to cast faster aimed shots?

Which part?
Its MM having a constant 15% haste buff (thats 50% more haste than the raid buff provides).
It speeds up anything that is affected by ranged attack speed - meaning instants and focus regeneration is the only thing it doesn't affect (oh and pet autoattacks, but thats a very minor thing anyway).

Yes i understand its a haste buff and what it affects, i just dont understand its utility, meaning once you fired your steady shots and get the buff, i usually find myself dumping focus and not casting SS until the buff wore out anyways.
That is why i am questionning the utility to go out of your way to absolutely maintain it.
I'm using
btw.

It's a good way to get more autoshots (and thus mastery procs from Wild Quiver out) and also allows you to fire Steady Shots quicker within the 10 seconds, allowing you to regenerate Focus faster (also your base regeneration should increase) and maintain the buff.
I'd still maintain the buff unless for some reason you're Focus capped (or close to it) the entire 10 seconds Steady Focus is up.

Generally, keeping Steady Focus up will be quite a nice DPS increase, especially in a group without the 10% haste raidbuff. It bumps up your pet's haste(allowing for more auto-attacks), faster "cast" shots(Aimed/Steady) and faster Auto-Shots. I can understand wanting to let it drop off if you're focused capped, but I really would suggest trying to keep it as close as possible, maybe only reapplying it in the last second(second shot going off at that point). With TotH, assuming average number of procs, my focus tends to rest between 30-60 throughout the fight. With a large number of procs, it can sit capped, which is a bit frustrating. With little to no procs in a fight, my focus will be at highest around 40, probably closer to 20.
From my observations(and a little testing) letting the Steady Focus buff drop off is a DPS loss, especially on longer fights. Yes, it's frustrating, having your focus capped and not being able to dump it effectively, but look at this way... Moar Haste = Moar PewPew. =D

Makes sense,, thanks for the answers.
I didn't think about auto shots and didn't know our haste scaled with the pet's auto shots as well.
