Asking what happened to the code is like asking why some people don't follow the rules of war...

Back in time druids were so rare that we didnt kill each others. But now, they are too common and I dont know if the druid in my face is a real druid or just a reroller. So I kill him just to be sure.

I followed the code for a few weeks while leveling my reroll druid (though he is now my favorite and my main). I followed it until I had a druid in a bg who focused on me every chance he got. I think he felt it made him more powerful to continue to wipe me out even though at the time he was 5 levels higher than me. I still followed it in World PVP until the same druid I found was on my server, and as I was rolling through Ungoro Crater. He attacked me, and I killed him. He then proceeded to corpse camp me for the next hour until I finally made it to a place where i could hearth out.
After that I don't wait when I see a horde druid, too many people just looking for a free HK now, they feel it's time to gank while I am fighting or healing myself. I generally leave horde alone while running around unless it's a hunter/lock/rogue. They tend to gank me all the time. If it's a feral druid, then I tend to gank first, if it's boomkin or resto (you can generally tell ;p) I tend to leave them alone.

It really depends on what your definition of an "Original" Druid is.
A druid pre-1.8 patch.

Never heard of this code, only the DK code, where everyone, especially other DK's try to gank your DK while leveling.

I don't gank other Druids while they're in the moonglade.
Anywhere else, though, is free for all

Na dude I hear exactly what you are saying. Just 20 minutes ago I was explaining the "Druid Code" to my arena buddies.
I'm a hardcore pvper and will gank anything and everything with a heartbeat but the instant I see a druid that is trying to engage in the fight I will cyclone/hibernate spam him until I can finish off the target im on then /goodbye and ditch.
I know I could probably tear them apart but the code is the code. Moonglade, Stranglethorn Vale and EVERY other place in this game (Excluding battlegrounds, arenas and our capital cities) I will /bow /goodbye to any and all druids I see.
Im glad to see that The Code hasn't been lost on everyone.
Original Druids for life!
