Nope, I wouldn't. I'm here to play a game, not make a game for others to play.

Blizzard have enough staff fixing problems like bugs etc.
What you can do to contribute is to report things to the Bugs area on the official forums.

It would probably be fanbois doing the coding and we all know what havoc that would cause in terms of their warped view on entitlement and eliteness.

I would make myself a god with the power to destroy entire zones with the push of a HOTKEY. No raid could stop me!

its clear that the alliance will get favoured, (if somehow could be made) since the overall popultation of wow is nearly 65% allaince and 45% horde
god help us away from this
Considering that adds up to 110%, I question the validity of "teh dataz."

This is a terrible, terrible idea.
You do realize that blizzard would have to go through quality control on all code submitted. Yes most could be thrown out fast, but some would go through couple of layers before it would need to be discarded. The percentage of good code to bad would be tiny, and not worth the effort of reviewing all submitted code.

Of course I would play/contribute
Thats the glory of open source, 9 million people will always come up with something better then 10 simple math...
However blizz would have to change alot of things and it really might just be too much work.
There is idea for open source games, Like people design instances/other stuff but its really hard to do in a mmo where everything has to be fair.
I don't have the skills to do that, so no. Besides, isn't our monthly subscription enough for them to fix what is borken? Why should we volunteer to fix a game that they make money hand over fist on?
Open source dosent work be people trying to be greedy, look at windows, Bill Gates made a ton of money on windows and its a piece of *!@#, why? becouse it was designed by a few people and they don't allow anyone else to make changes to it. Take a look at linux, open source, no one makes much money if any off of linux, its about building something that better then what you have, I know if I possessed the talent to make a instance or something I would. Why? Because I would say "I made this" and I would know that people are using what I made. Plus I could tailor it to what I want. (Witch is the big thing about open source)
Not gonna lie, a open source mmorpg would be hard to make/conduct but if someone figured out a way to make one and incorporated their Idea into a game it would be freakin sweet.
Seriously how many times have you thought "Wouldnt it be freaking sweet if X was in WoW?" Or "This boss fight would be way better if he did Y then Z"
100,000 people will always beat 100
