Before TBC paladins retribution tree was crap to say it out. not rly good spells at all except just get to SoC and drop rest of tree, but most of the veterans do still think that and tell new players that it sucks and the new players say it to other ect

Conviction
Requires Melee Weapon
Increases your chance to get a critical strike with melee weapons by 5%.
more crit= more damage
Crusade
Increases all damage caused against Humanoids, Demons, Undead and Elementals by 3%.
3 % more damage
against most Raid and all Pvp bastards =)
Improved Blessing of Might
Increases the attack power bonus of your Blessing of Might by 20%.

Sanctity Aura
Aura

An instant strike that causes weapon damage plus 40% of your Holy spell damage and refreshes all Judgements on the target.
Here is the talent whos shine most in raid! why? lets me tell you why buddy!=)
3 paladins , one who use "seal of light" one who do "seal of Wisdom" and you that do "seal of crusader"
all paladins judge the boss.....and what you got? this nice skill that do good damage! and YOU! refresh all the seals ALONE!
Judgment of Light:
healers will love you because every one who hit it get health that mean that they can focus on tank and not need to heal the other in raid that much
Judgment of Wisdom
: all Mana-dps gone love it! as they hit it! they get mana! mean more DPS less downtime to drink (very great on gruul fights)
Judgment of Crusader:
lol? holydamage gone help rest wtf? WRONG! its the 3% MORE CRIT that gone make all DPS and tank so he can keep agro more to (crit =more agro)
so you get loved by all but still hated? not logic.

Precision ( you gone need 8% if you gone raid much so more on talent and more to gear to do more damage)

i know many Paladins who got their dream of Retribution in PvE most killed by people who know nothing about them and yeah! get it self that no one want to group with me because am Retribution Spec

While Ret. Pallys have some nice abilities to increase damage, it's not like every single skill that was mentioned in the OP will be up and being used all the time: Pally's seem to be a "choose what fits the situation that you're fighting in" class, and not everything works together all the time: lots of abilities are stipulated and conditioned.
I think that's why it's harder to be a good ret pally than a holy one, as Ryogo pointed out. Some people aren't so good at adapting abilities or choosing the right ones, aren't reading the environment that they are fighting in/against, or are too lazy to care :P

o and i have grouped with a few ret pallys in heroics and my mage doubled them on the damage meter.
I've seen ret paladins with epic gear double DPS mages in greens and blues, the only way to validate your arguement would be if you proved that your mage and the paladin were on par with the gear.
And somehow show that the paladin and your mage had the same amount of exposure to the environment and that the paladin's player had the same skill level as you.
An impossible feat to accomplish.

the point isnt that all ret pallys suck infact if u bother to read my entire post i said that rep pallys are very good, in bgs and arenas.
yea I did, and the reason I didn't comment on the rest of your somment was that I thought it was a arguable point, hence, reasonable to use in a forum.
However, comparing DPS in a single or few situations doesn't do any justice when ret paladins takes a bit more spell rotation than a mage, hence, takes a bit more of skill
plus I've seen complete idiots in heroics, an enhancement shaman attacking bosses from the front, etc.
not saying you don't have skill, but saying that the ret paladin's player has to have a decent amount of skill to produce decent DPS and it could just meant that the player was new or an idiot
saying that ret paladins and MS warriors are a PvP only class is a good point, as most mobs and all raid bosses are basically immune to vindication and mortal strike, however, there are trash that are affected greatly by the two mentioned skills
