Basically, you're looking at a situation like this:
You have a beautiful child, and just becomes another statistic of the other hundreds of children being born in an already over-populated world. This child grows up in a day of technology, corruption, and evil. World events lead us closer to another world war, which could occur during your child's prime years. He is forced into the military or an already bloody, but short handed, campaign for world domination.
Your child dies.
OR!
You don't have a child. Your direct lineage ends with you. Because of your childless life, you lead an unfullfilling one, thinking to yourself how you should have had one, but never did. You feel empty, and your life is completely devoid of happiness and you feel as if you have no reason for living.
You die.
..You have quadrouplets. You suicide.
Lawl. This is worse case-scenario.

After all, "The meaning of life is to give life meaning". For some, that is to create an offspring and nurture it into it's future greatness.
There's no bigger satisfaction that watching your offspring succeed at life.

i made this thread cause i've been thinking about kids.. do the benefits exceed the pain and suffering ahead that our forefathers created?
i'll give my main reason.
children are pure and innocent beings born into a already unstable world. our children will be born into a world which will depend on oil from a country that is not our ally.
if global warming is "true," they will endure some rough times ahead
do they deserve to be born into a world where they will face many tribulations? why do you want to have kids? why do you not want to have kids?
