Racial Filter in Database?
Post Reply
Return to board index

I'm trying to look up the total number of high elf NPCs in the game, specifically ones added in Battle for Azeroth. Is there a way to filter NPC races in a database search, that also includes high elf NPCs that has actual names instead of generic ones such as "High Elf Ranger"?
Hope I'm making sense.

Probably not. I think "humanoid" is as specific as it gets for categorizing npcs.
Can you give a couple examples of the type of NPC you're looking for?

Basically all of <insert race here> added to the game during a particular expansion.
Searching the database for the name of the race will only yield results having that race as part of their ingame name, searching with the words "blood elf" might yield a result like 'Blood Elf Champion' NPCs, but Lor'themar Theron wouldn't be a result due to him having a specific name - in spite of him also being a blood elf.
In my case, I'm curious to know just how many high elves and void elves were added as part of the Alliance back in BFA.

Wowhead's database does not have that information.
I poked around
wow.tools
and found race information attatched to some NPCs but high elf is not one of the
race options
.
There are some
model files
with 'highelf' in the name. They have associated
CreatureModelData
IDs which are associated with
CreatureDesplayInfo
IDs. You could search the
Creature table
for the display ids to get NPC IDs that can be looked up on
wowhead's NPC database
.
