You need to read/see others to kind of understand the storyline, it's very dark for a childrens book, no wonder kids grow into emos *points at tHeBlAcKpArAdE*

It took me two days.. TWO DAYS to watch ONE LotR movie... And here, you talk about there not being enough in it.
Thats the point, it takes two days to watch and STILL misses out half the book.

the Harry Potter movies sucked, and the books get old after a while, we dont have to ban them, they just werent very good
Harry Potter is like, the best! I have read all 7 books a total of...~40 times and they haven't got old, the films miss some content but are still outstanding.
I would like to see the fiction you read... :S
try reading Catch-22, The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, Scar Night (and Iron Angel), Enders Game + sequels, A Game of Thrones (and the whole Song of Ice and Fire series), the Dune series, or anything by Neil Gaiman or Terry Pratchett and tell me that Harry Potter is still "amazing"
Hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy? i fell asleep in the FILM, I'm not going to enjoy the book.
Never heard of all of these, research into the inspirations for harry potter, the story from a child's perspective and all that malarkey and tell me it sucks. Maybe I'm biased because I grew up reading it, but it still is my favourite series (yes...I prefer Harry Potter over twilight, lord of the rings, and martina cole books and everything else I have ever read...including a thesauras :O)

Try Mistborn or Elantris, they are both by Brandon Sanderson, are an easy read, and are amazing.
Edit - you too Thronarr!

What genre are they under?
I usually see through what the story outline of the book is and decide from that =)
