I think you should mention that with those off-set pieces you have to get +hit from weapons (or gems and enchants) and there isn't really decent +hit weapons unless you are raiding.

You are correct. As it seems I had it "wrong". The items advanced since the first post so I need to update the text a bit

Nice update, there's a rumor going around that all wrathful gear that requires a less than 2k rating to aquire you will not need a rating for now, I know for a fact its true for the offhand items and wands, not sure about main pieces though.
You mention supression for getting hit capped, please remember that we don't have that anymore.
ps, god I was such a noob back you first wrote this....

Any wrathful that doesn't require team rating you can buy without any rating. So anything except shoulders and tier2 weapons vendor.

Was hoping you might be able to give us a bit more advice on bg's, or perhaps know of a site that could.

Back with another question. With resiliance not stopping our spells from critting anymore, how does crit fair in relation to haste/mastery etc. now? I would assume that it has increased it's value considerably, but crit still rely's on RNG where as haste/mastery etc do not. Also with fear effects being based off a percentage of base health before they break, should we not bother with them and just go for stuns instead?

Any chance on an update on this one?
Specially demo and destro in pvp...
Can't seem to find alot pn these specs, not even on AJ.
I'm also very interested in how specs and haste, mastery, crit choices differ between Rated Battlegrounds and Arena. Is there a difference? Talents more useful for bgs than for arena, ....?

Yeah. The question of crit's relative value is an interesting one, and something i believe flows into the general confusion over pvp stats at the moment. The considerably larger health pools as of right now have slowed fights down (and also arguably made them more awesome in intensity) and it is a bit mystifying how this affects stats and specs.
I think it is safe to safe to say that irrespective of how strong it is compared to other stats, crit is still far more relevant for destro than affliction. On the other hand, since destro no longer is able to burst people down in a well timed nuke chain, one might say destro has become forced to somewhat mimic affliction in its mechanics. By this I mean keeping up pressure by steadily pumping damage into the opponent while timing stuns and fears.
But what about crit's value? Like you say it relies on rng, but i think it depends on your perspective of pvp. Is it the short or long time span that matters? is it the very duel / game at this moment that matters or performance all around? Crit will be very rng vulnerable in a single head-to-head, but seen
overall
, no more a subject of rng than any other aspect of the gameplay. The changes to resi ought to make it more viable, yes. Id like to know how much though.
concerning fear, i see it as very unlikey that youll get by on stuns only. Fear remains one of, if not the single most powerful tool in a lock's arsenal.
It would be interesting to hear some theorizing and opinions on the value of crit and other stats, health pools and how all of this fares with our specs in pvp.

I would still steer clear of crit. PvP can be very unpredictable and random, when I PvP I prefer to have my talents and stats lined up in such a way that I'm not worried about whether or not X will proc or Y will crit... just adds more randomness to the equation.
What I would be more interested to hear about is the new kid on the block: Mastery. Mastery now appears on 2/5 of our PvP set pieces (gloves are hit, pants are haste and chest is crit). Furthermore,
most offset pieces appear to be strangely itemized
(as in, weird combos available)... unless wowhead simply doesn't have all of them uploaded.
PS: Digging the new spell pen pieces! Don't have to get 100% of our spell pen from gems and chants now!

i agree and am also very much into this kind of thinking. But... however much you strive to have a consistent output
yourself
, you cant avoid being subject to the randomness / RNG affecting you in the other direction. I mean, imagine a state of pvp where everybody BUT you would stack some amount of crit. Would that really make you feel good in your safe and predictable choice? Playing destro and actively avoiding crit just seems counterintuitive in some way. It may just be remains of the "idea" of destro, im not sure.
But yeah, mastery may be the greater mystery here. Even in pve its stat-relative weight seems a bit unclear still, and as for pvp...

Crit isn't necessarily the "idea" of destro as far as PvP goes... it was always optional. Now that resil doesn't rape it so hard it might be more viable than it was (and it was viable in certain comps), but it remains an iffy stat.
If everyone else was doing it, I still wouldn't unless I saw a good reason to. With the current healing model, it is about consistent output and crit (ESPECIALLY at low tiers like we are at now) just doesn't do it for me. Besides, with the current state of interrupts I would much prefer to have faster casts, or at least guaranteed hard hitting casts (mastery) when I do get them off >.<

oh, i would never consider putting crit anywhere even close to haste in importance. It just a matter of whether to take it into consideration at all, and if so, how much.

A few things are misleading,
Destro and Demo have very low damage in the arena. LoS, 0 dispel protection, and every class having an interrupt is a kick in the B@lls. Aff has the most damage of any spec. Right now Aff's spread damage is one of the highest damage out put in the 3v3 bracket. Aff also has the only mechanic in game that effectively balances defensive dispels form the other team.
