Agreed. Besides, I think that it was a test of loyalty. Could the Lich King not simply raise them again?
Yes, incorrect in so many ways, but I <3 Scourge.
Great idea too, you need to make more for each class
here's an idea for a shaman:
Arthas: Ha ha ha! I Remember when that fool Ner'zhul attempted to control me, the fate he suffered will now be your own!
Rogue
Arthas: No matter what kind of tricks you attempt, death will always have the last laugh.
hunter
Arthas: You and you pets are no match for the Lord of Death. I will show you the error of your ways.
Warlock:
Arthas: Cohorting with demons is what first set this all in motion, and for that I thank your kind. But you, too, must die.

wait what? :x link to lore pls. I thought Arthas and Ner'zhul were one now.
Same here. I was under the impression that Arthas is "no more" and the being known as the Lich King is the combination of both entities.
Back to the OP, I understand where you're coming from, and I do hope it works out something like that...
The idea to finish the final 25% on your own sounds slightly more plausible to me, from Blizzard's standpoint. I don't think they can really 'demote' him to a quest rather than a raidboss, but I agree that it should feel more personal than you and 24 other guildmates.
During Arthas's fall from being a paladin of the Silver Hand, Ner'zhul's spirit, which was encased in an icy tomb in the armor that Arthas now wears, was the cause. He had chosen Arthas to become a Death Knight. Then Arthas and Illidan raced to the Frozen Throne, which is the icy tomb that Ner'zhul was trapped in. Arthas then proceeded to wtfpwn Illidan on top of the throne and claim the Lich King armor for himself. When he put the armor on, Ner'zhul's spirit and Arthas' own spirit fused together, forming the Lich King.

Please stop spitting on the lore.
Arthas is no more.
Ner'zhul is no more.
There is only The Lich King, an entity of great power, made from the remnants of Ner'zhul and Arthas.
Kinda like Padan Fain from the Wheel of Time series. He's no longer a puppet of the Dark One, nor is he Padan Fain, but something completely different, but still having bits of the old around.
