Yeah, honestly I'm getting pretty similar numbers between my MM and SV spec, so the difference isn't all that much until your cross the ArP threshold. At which point MM clearly wins out. However, since they're nefing ArP somewhat, it won't be quite as easy to achieve the appropriate numbers of ArP, so ArP MM may not be quite as good as it once was.
That being said, if you have decent gear, play which ever spec you have the most fun with. You'll get similar numbers either way. (barring you're not ArP MM)

There are alot of bad generalizations (and some stuff that is just plain incorrect) in this thread.
SV is not > all.
Good gear, even with a nice chunk of armor pen, doesn't mean you are guaranteed to do more DPS as MM.
Survival is not way more mana efficient if you spec/play MM correctly.
Seriously, import your toon into the online spreadsheet and try out both specs if you want a real answer that actually applies to
your toon.

Who is ignoring it?
Just because nobody has specifically mentioned it doesn't mean that it isn't being accounted for. The DPS spreadsheet certainly hasn't forgotten about it.

i don't believe that Grim Toll is absolutely necessary for a solid MM build. if you manage to break at least 620 (just a random number above 600) passive ArP, you should be able to do massive bursts of damage and steady dps alongside at least a DMC: G and another trinket that can boost your AP or agility significantly other than Grim Toll or a Runestone.
You def do not need Grim Toll.
Honestly, it's not even that great and you really have to juggle your hit rating around to keep from going over cap if you want to get anything at all out of it.
Right now i can't even figure out a way in the spreadsheet to make it beat out Banner of Victory for me.
At the moment it's probably the most overrated item in the game. If you really want to go the ArP trinket route, get Mjolir Runestone.
