Leveling Professions For Mounts

So, I'm a mount and pet collector. Currently sitting at 81 mounts, still with 7 AT mounts, 3 pvp, 3 AQ tanks and my red drake left to buy. That brings me to 95. From there on I need to rely on drops and such.
At the moment I am a skinner/miner. My skinning is full and my mining is at 90-something because I was too lazy to level it once I dropped leather working.
If I were to drop mining and level engineering up, I could grab the mounts. That brings me to 97. Then I could drop engineering (or skinning) and level tailoring up, that brings me to 99 mounts. Then one drop or my violet protodrake and I've got my dragonhawk :)
So my questions to you guys are: Would this be worth it? I know tailoring is pretty easy to level, at least until around 300 because that's what it is on an alt of mine. But how expensive does it get? Same with engineering. How much do you think it would cost for me to power level engineering and tailoring together?
Thanks for the feedback guys :)

It all really depends on the AH prices. If you're going to level up engineering, it'd be a good time to start leveling up your mining before you drop it and collect as much ore as possible. I'd suggest looking into some of the guides that tell you how much materials you'll need for crafting so you have a good idea how much to collect before dropping mining and switching over.
So there's pretty much two different answers:
A) Collect all the mats (which does take time) before you drop mining
B) Buy them all out, which will probably end up costing up to 2k gold in the long run, if not more.

Thanks guys :)
Dropping skinning (as much as I don't want to) to get engineering then level that plus my mining makes the most sense. I mean I do have a decent ammount of gold, and I could always use my boyfriends characters for mining but... I kinda want to get the explorer title as well :P So mining and exploring seem to go hand in hand. Then dropping mining to pick up tailoring works.
The only thing I'm afraid of is getting bored/poor half way through and giving up >_> But I don't think I will, this is getting me 4 badass mounts as well as 2 BoP engineering pets.

I'd love to start collecting pets but I simply don't like at all the way pets are organized/handled in WoW. Also, it would be nice to be able to pop more than one at the same time (say 5 or more) or being able to "showcase" them. They're just a vanity item but it's like you always "see/use" one. Same goes for mounts.

Thanks for the erm, 'feedback', but your opinion on mounts and pets has nothing to do with what I had asked for in the original post.
I was just browsing forums a few minutes ago and saw you were an Engineer, so if you could give me a bit of info (approx. how much it will cost me to power level it, or how long it takes to level for example) that would be great.

I personally just dropped mining for engineering on my main, shifting mining to an alt.
In leveling the alt from 1-450 mining, I got almost exactly the mats I needed to level engineering to 450. Profit!

Dont bother with him.

About your dilemma, how much it will cost depend of your server.
Tailoring: Easy to level up, but will cost you alot if your server is somewhat like other servers. Wool Cloth is the rarest material on AH. On the 3 servers I play they usually goes for 30-50g per stack! Nobody farm them and every tailor, first-aid, rep grinder need them. I suggest you to do some excel research and calculus to figure out how many of each cloth kind you will need to reach the tailoring level you need for mount and then start to look AH for material. I suggest you to get all the material before starting to level it up because if you start to reap the AH of all its cloth and suddenly there is not enough to continue to level up, it will make the cloth price to skyrocket for couple days and you will end up paying more than you would have if you slowly bought everything before starting.
Engineering: Will cost you alot. Mithril, Thorium, Fel Iron are pretty expensive usually. Here again, buy material before starting to level it up because, if you create a lack of a lack of ore in AH it will cost you alot more than expected, just like for cloth, but in much more worst (I already did it when I leveled up BS on an alt and I made thorium stack goes from 70g/stack to 200g/stack), it was insane. At least when it happened I sold back some ore stack and made my cash back :)
So in short, get all the material before starting to level it up, else you will end up jacking material price and pay more than needed. Expect 1k-1.5k for tailoring and 2k gold for engy (since you dont need to max them out).
Dropping skinning to level up mining to farm it yourself is pointless. You would be just be better to farm skins and resell to buy ore. Would end up to be same.

I suggest you to do some excel research and calculus
Lol, a complete digression, but pray tell what calculus would help with determining mat amounts?
