You're most likely not going to make gold with easy to get recipes, simply because, well,
they're easy to get - so almost everybody has them and the market is flooded.
If you do want to make gold while you're skilling up those last 10 points, it'll take a bit of a careful study of what you can make vs. what's available on your server's AH, trade channel and so on. It varies from server to server, though, and will most likely require you to get patterns that are at least a bit out of the way of the average player.
(For example, I skilled up a good chunk of 350-365 on
Fel Leather Leggings - simply because this was still close to the TBC launch, and I was one of the very, very few people on the server who'd bothered grinding revered with Consortium. Got paid anywhere from 10g to 50g to make them, and given how cheap Primal Shadow was back then, assuming I found Fel Scales on the AH I could usually turn at the very least a 100g profit by buying materials, making the pants and putting them on the AH. But this wouldn't work anymore with today's prices.)
If you don't want to make that effort, there are two things you can do.
You can chalk it up as a loss, and try making something you can use yourself, at least (drums can be fantastic, for instance, and they're much, much cheaper to make these days than they used to be).
Or, if you happen to have an enchanter friend, pick an item that still skills you up and has the following qualities:
- Disenchantable
- Blue
- Cheap to make
Farm / buy materials, chain-make, get your friend to disenchant the lot for you, and sell the shards to cover at least some of the costs. (Unless materials for a skillup item cost less than 20g per skillup, though, you'll still lose gold.)
