if u r a prot pala it s perfect. if u r a mage it isnt.
i wonder what would u do if u were a shaman. would u be able to kill 2 in a row?
what if they nerf pala next?
would it be still a perfect game?
wow is perfect for u because palas arent nerfed yet.
wow sucks for many of my dk friends because they r nerfed terribly.
now what can they do?
start all over again leveling a pala.. many days and weeks till they reach 80.. and still many days to get gear to be strong..
for what? just to enjoy game like u do now.
and when they nerf palas what will happen?
dont say they wont nerf it. because they will.
as they nerfed dk s
thats why it s boring.
you work hard and spend weeks to get what s promised....
and when u get it, they make it crap..
first you see abilities.. than u decide to level it. because you think it will be good.. and when u reach 80 they NERF İT.. this is not fair..
if i knew dk s would ne nerfed i wouldnt spend many weeks to level it.
thats why wow is not a good game..
they trick us. and they steal our time.

I still get a buzz when I beat a tough pvper or a new boss encounter. I love to hear the DING when I get an achievement that was hard. I love to hear the tinkly sound when you discover a new area. I love the long rep grinds, so satisfying when you reach your goal. Sometimes I log on and just chat all evening to my guildies, many of whom are real life friends who live miles away so I wouldn't be able to spend time with them otherwise.
If you are bored of the game it means:
1) you haven't done everything in the game yet - so, get more involved in things other than raiding.
2) you have done everything in the game already - so, get some hobbies outside of WoW.
3) you're just not that 'into' WoW.

When the last Harry Potter book came out a reviewer wrote that the series was a coming-of-age story, but a bad one because there was little coming-of-age in it.
I couldn't help thinking: then perhaps it isn't a coming of age story.
Many people consider Starship Troopers a bad scifi movie. It isn't supposed to be a scifi movie (listen to Paul Verhoeven's commentary). It's political satire like Gulliver's Travels or Van den Vos Reinaerde.
It seems that the discussion whether something is good isn't so much about the item itself, but about the definition of and criteria for good. This means that what you want or expect from the item determines whether the item is good.
For example if your looking for a platform game Wow sucks. If you're looking for a recipebook Wow sucks. Does that mean that Wow sucks or that you're expecting Wow to be something it isn't supposed to or was ever meant to be?

Hate it or love it, everyone should agree that WoW has basically perfected the genre of MMOs. I've spoken with many people whose opinions I greatly respect, all of whom do not play WoW, who all say that although they themselves don't enjoy it, they must give props to Blizzard for pulling it off so well.
People keep saying "OH MAN IS GONNA BEAT WOW". No one is going to "beat" WoW. Period. It's too well layed out and has too many followers. The only thing that will beat WoW, is WoW. Either Blizzard will implement a string of bad choices that royally #$%^ed every one off and they all leave, or their secret "next generation" MMO will be more popular.
So yes, WoW is a good game. People may say otherwise, but I'm afriad they are just outright wrong. 11.5 million subscribers doesn't mean nothing.

I have had a LOT of fun playing WoW the past 18 months. How is it poorly designed?

WoW, like any RPG, is about getting the next level (while below the level cap) and getting that next piece of sweet gear.
I've daydreamed and even sat at my desk trying to think up what an RPG would be like if levels weren't involved and if gear didn't change so often, originally imagining a revolutionary role-playing environment.
Truth be told, it would be boring.

First of all where to begin, WoW is a mmorpg it's backbone is in the PvE which revolves around raiding to get better gear. I don't see how people find this such a terrible thing. This is exactly what an mmorpg is suppose to be and has always been. The reason you pay monthly is for new gear to be created and new dungeons. Some people actually want no more new gear because they feel they should be able to settle down with their current gear and never have to work to achieve anything anymore. The best part about WoW is Blizzard uses the money they make from their player-base the game is always changing for the worse or the best its something new, fresh and entertaining. Not every mmorpg updates this much so I'm very thankful. The PvP aspect is updated as well there has been plenty new battlegrounds released and PvP gear for players who don't like to PvE. Does every game company care this much about both PvE and PvP? I've yet to see a video game take care of both player bases.
Then there are people like your friend who feel they actually 'need' to raid and do all that stuff. WoW is such a massive game with so much to do you don't need to do raids if that isn't your thing and you're not forced to PvP. If you don't like either of these then maybe mmos aren't you're type of game, but that doesn't give you the right to go around saying it is a 'bad' game.
I find the quests very fun and all the mounts and gear to be entertaining. I do raids whenever I feel like it just join a guild and tell them you're not gonna be hardcore but will be online sometimes people will understand. Wanna go beat on some Horde or Allies you can join a battleground anytime. Wanna have some fun with your friends and make a Arena Team? You can challenge your friend's skills and see how far you can get and if not just have some fun.
Keeping all of this in mind is quite a mouthful and the best is all of this stuff is changing. Everything I've listed is always being updated. Haven't you wondered why WoW is the biggest mmo out there? Simply, because its fresh. Most people could care less about nerfs and changes the majority of WoW players are casual and just enjoy seeing the game change.
If PvE and PvP isn't your style don't play WoW. You're not gonna find another mmo though that updates as much as WoW does so have fun with any other mmo. You're not gonna find another mmo with as many people. You're not gonna find another mmo with excellent email and phone support. Seriously these guys have understood me so many times for my issues they actually treat me like a friend and do favors all the time.
Ex: I purchased character re customization and my brother screwed with it because I was away from my computer and the moron clicked accept. Well as Blizzard's website says no redos will be given. I gave it a shot though and the guy was actually pretty cool with it and said he understood so he allowed me to do it again. Find me another game support that is this chill with its customers.
So once again if you 'QQ' about your gear getting outdated go play some console rpg there is actually a game over in the end and you will never have to upgrade again.

Compared to other games out there WoW is actually quite good. You really do feel as if you are in a world that you can interact with and explore, which isn't the case with a lot of MMORPGs. The game is put together quite well and quite intuitive and you can tell that Blizzard has spent a lot of time fine tuning it over years. I've played for almost 4 years and can see how it's evolved to become a game for everyone. If you want to raid, there's that but you aren't limited to just raiding, especially as you are leveling up. It's quite an easy game to solo play as you go from levels 1-80.
I've played it from quite a few angles. At one point I was pretty hard core and into raiding. I got to Level 70 and acquired the epic gear, did the PVP stuff too. Then WOTLK came out and I hit 80 and found I was going to have to do the same thing I did at Level 70 all over again. I suddenly realized that I didn't want to do that so I've pretty much stopped raiding and started all over again with a different toon that I play completely differently. That is one beauty about WoW: You can roll an alt toon and experience an entirely different perspective of the game.
Plus, right now my personal life doesn't allow for the time it takes to raid. I don't even belong to a guild right now with the toon I'm currently working on. I just quest and explore and find it very relaxing and enjoyable. No, I won't have the "best" gear but if I don't care does it really matter? I can still join a party for an instance or I can solo. I work on my crafting, do dailies and quests to get gear thru reputation and work on my achievements and crafting. I find I'm having just as good a time as when I was raiding. So in this way WoW is very good game because there's a lot to choose from.
Like anything else, it's not perfect. I guess if I had one criticism it's that the background/lore of WoW should be more "evident" and there should be a strong, evolving storyline that runs through the game from beginning to end. Yes, I've read all the Warcraft books and have checked out Wowwikki but if I hadn't done so I think I would be quite lost. My friend plays WoW and often says "What the heck is going on?" with regards to the quests. He doesn't quite know WHY he does the the things he does and when I try to explain he says "Why isn't that in the GAME? Why do I have to read a book or go to a website to know that?" I believe he has a point there. I think if WoW had more emphasis on storytelling and less on gear it'd be perfect..for me. For someone else it may not be. That's Blizzard's great challenge: That there has to be something for everyone. In that respect I think the've done a pretty good job at that.

With friends, I give this game an A+. By yourself, I'd give it a D-. Not an F because without other players, you are still left with an environment, rather than a black, empty void.
But, for the most part, WoW as a single player would probably be unacceptable for most gamers. Along the lines of
Bible Adventures
on the NES. Yes, obviously the participation of a community of players is what makes an MMO, but the gap between the multiplayer experience and the single player experience could do well to be narrowed and, I think, would result in a much better experience for everyone.
WoW was fun while I was into it, but I still don't think we have seen how good MMOs could really be.
