I experimented as a MS-Sword spec/DW pre-bc. It was funny to play with. I later tried it again post-BC again, using 2 swords and it wasnt bad. But the lack of +10% AP from Imp Zerker Stance and Deathwish was definately noticeable.
Also, MS is based off weapon damage, so 1h weapons wont do near as much damage as 2h MS will do. Where-as Bloodthirst will do 45% AP and the actually weapon damage isnt a factor.
At your level tho, I would honestly stick to 2h MS. Once you hit 60+ and +hit gear becomes more prevailent, definately give Fury a try.

Don't get me wrong...fury is FUN...but i will never be able to give up 6k+ executes with a heavy 2 hander.
lol. Your weapon has nothing to do with exectutes. You can be naked and do the same damage with all epics, You most likely won't crit though.

I think it's fairly reasonable to say that a player who leveled & quit the game pre-expansion, only to re-level & gear up could make a mistake concerning something of this nature.
It's fairly simple what Execute does & that said, what makes you think he read the tooltip while leveling the second time?
An oversight, to be sure. People are very, very prone to oversight & misconception about game mechanics.
No need to heckle someone for it. There are more constructive ways to bring your point to attention.
